Fleas, fleas, fleas!

If you want the summary, here it is: The wine is just ok, but ask yourself this, is the wine worth coming home with fleas? If you have wedding plans, don't go there. If you value your furry babbies, don't go there. Oh and they will tell you it's your fault for bringing the fleas into the guesthouse from outside - FLEAS THAT ARE ON THEIR PROPERTY OUTSIDE. -10 star- for service and 0 stars for the fleas. The fleas can't help themselves. The service needs to learn responsibility. Here's what happened: We stayed in the guesthouse as a special treat for a family reunion after 3 years of separation. My family was coming from Europe - so a long way and the guesthouse is exorbitantly expensive. When we arrived at around 4pm, there was no electricity, but we were not overly bothered because stuff happens. We spent that time enjoying a complimentary wine tasting. Upon entering the guesthouse, we found that the floor and sofas were not super clean but we were not overly fussed. The first morning after our first night, as my brother-in-law was leaving the house, his legs were covered in little black bugs. We weren't sure what they were until the next day when his legs were covered in bites. However, upset that second afternoon after finding my sister's room's floor was covered in little black bugs, we contacted our host Melissa who dropped off flea and tick spray and brought out the vacuum as requested by us. The vacuum had not been emptied (I don't think since it was bought) so my husband emptied it, and then vacuumed the one bedroom that was infested. He had to vacuum the sofa and the floor and then later my sister and brother-in-law's suitcase. We then sprayed the entire room. This did not solve the problem. There were still fleas all over the floor as we were leaving. Eventually after much discussion with Melissa we got back 35% of what we had paid - with this note: "We have many preventative measures in place in an effort to prevent situations as these. We are on a rural property in the vineyards here and dust and bugs are all part of life. We have the house sprayed to prevent pests from entering but unfortunately we cannot prevent them from attached to persons or clothing and entering into the house." So basically, if you get fleas from this property, it's your fault for not knowing there are bugs in rural areas, and it's your fault it got into the house because heaven forbid you walk around their grounds. I mean, honestly, visitor who knows nothing about vineyards or rural areas, what were you thinking? Not the right attitude. Not good service. Did I mention the place is FLEA-INFESTED (as evidenced by the Fabelist own words.) But hey, fleas are part of life in the vineyards, don't you know? Don't go there.

Now I have Fable-lust! Fantastic tasting $15 for 6 pours fully credited towards purchase ( 2 bottle minimum) Bottles are only $20 each! They specialize in affordable wine. The Malbec was one of the best I’ve ever tasted.

Brandon was our host and made our time there truly pleasurable. Told use about h fables for each label. It’s going to be hard to top this stop!

This was our absolute favorite winery in Paso Robles! Really delicious wines and gorgeous setting. Great service and we loved the story behind each wine. We did a tasting and then enjoyed the picnic lunch we brought with a glass of wine overlooking the beautiful vineyards. Truly a special place with fantastic wines.

Great wines at an affordable price. A bit harder to get to but well worth your time. Lovely setting, both inside and outside seating, overlooking the vineyard. Each wine has a story.

Formerly Pomar Junction tasting room.

They are working on a great nitch. Making Paso wines affordable to all. All bottles of wine $20. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Merlot, Malbec.

Great stories behind the label.

Relaxed setting with beautiful views of the vineyard. Good for a picnic!
