The owner is so pleasant to chat with and she made our visit 5 stars. Tasting was $15 with a generous pour. Enjoyed the champagne here as well. They had a huge area at the top of the property that was a nice place for relaxing.

Returned now that the pandemic is not keeping the doors closed. My wife and I live in Arizona but have been to Bella Vista several times in the past and looked forward to another visit. This visit, as in the past, we were greeted, welcomed, and made to feel very much at ease, appreciated, and comfortable.
The purpose of the visit was to stock up on a few cases of our favorite wines. We purchased Merlot and Petit Sirah and added a case of Rozmartin. Neither of us had ever had the Rozmartin and found it to be very tasty.
Are Bella Vista wines the greatest wines in the World? Of course not. Is a visit to the Bella Vista Winery a great way to spend a bit of your time? Absolutely!

Bella Vista
First winery in Temecula, established in 1968
Evelyn was so nice. They just opened last Saturday, they are so excited to be open again.

They have a lot of ribbons for
Petit Shira, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Nestled on the hill is a beautiful area for wedding, picnic or just taking in the scenery.

I WOULD RECOMMEND.

My husband and I aren't pros on the wine tasting tour but I think we've been to enough to know the difference between good and bad and this place was so bad. As we parked outside the entrance, it reminded us of a truck delivery entrance. We actually looked at each other and asked, "Did we park in the right parking lot?" When we walked in, it looked and smelled like an old beer hall. We asked the hostess if the wine tasting price included a wine glass and she said, no that hardly any of the wineries do that any more because it's too expensive but, actually, this is the first place we've been that didn't include the glass. We just didn't feel comfortable with the atmosphere, the cleanliness or anything else about it so we left.

Small, friendly and nice wine bar. One of the first wineries in Temecula for $10 you receive five samples of wine. The quality was very good of each sample and Diana was a very informative and efficient in serving the drinks. I have visited several of the larger wineries in the area but really enjoyed the atmosphere and surrounds at Bella Vista.

We purchased a bottle of Petite Sirah Reserve 2007 at the winery last weekend. The tasting was $15/ pp so we decided to just buy a bottle of what used to be our favorite when the winery was owned by the Cilurzo Family up until 2004.
When we opened the 2007 Petite Sirah, it was obviously old, and spoiled... "corked" as they say. It was a prune color, and off-odor. I'm somewhat of a wine conoisuierre, so I know when a wine has gone bad. And I know they do when they are this old and not stored properly. I was disappointed in the wine to say the least, and would have returned it if we were closer. Not drinkable. They should check these old wines to see if they are still good. Ours was not, and was certainly not worth $34 + tax! Two Buck Chuck would have won out in any blind tasting, sorry to say. It's their reputation, not mine. Our bottle wasn't drinkable. I felt really cheated! Probably won't be back. They may survive on the weekend wine bus partiers that really don't know what good wine is anyway, but don't charge $34 for wine that should only be sold at The 99 Cents Only Store. Please!

I have been on 4 wine limo wine tours to Temecula. Each time we go to different winery's. This is the only one I have selected twice! Its the oldest winery in Temecula. It isn't super fancy like some of the newer ones. But the wine is outstanding. The white cab is spectacular! The owner/server is very funny and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

We've been going to Bella Vista Winery since the beginning of 2013. I learned about them from a friend of mine who said they are known for the most mature wines of all the Temecula wineries.

The first time we went and drove up the driveway, it looked closed. Then we saw the sign by the door that reads, "Yes we are open." So my party of 3 and I went in.

We were warmly greeted by the owner's wife, whose name I learned on future visits is Gizzy.

As we went in, it did look small from first glance, so I asked how much it was for wine tasting. I was told, "Its $10 for six tastes. You pay here then go inside to the tasting room." So my party and I bought the tastings and proceeded inside.

"WOW!" I said to my friends, "This has to be one of the biggest wine bars of any of the Temecula wineries."

The wine bar sits atop wine barrels and truly gives this older winery so much character and charm. It's so inviting.

Since that first visit my friends and I have been back many times.

On each visit we always learn something new, as it is a real wine experience. The pourers at Bella Vista Winery, Diana, DJ, Howard and even sometimes the owners Imre and Gizzy always teach us something new about the wines there. They all also have a great sense of humor.

We usually start out with Bella Vista Winery's champagne which is so delicious. It's not too dry and not too sweet. It is so refreshing and thirst quenching.

One of the main things we like most about this Temecula winery is that the wines are more mature than most of the other wineries in Temecula.

When we first started going to Bella Vista, it was explained to us that they do not filter any of their wines on purpose, to keep all the flavors and robustness in the wines.

They serve a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon which is really good as is the 2002 Syrah (Yes that's means these wines are 9 years and 11 years old respectively). We recently heard they just bottle the 2005 Syrah. We really enjoy the tastes of the mature aged red wines as they are completely different from the much younger red wines of other wineries.

A very interesting fact to know about Bella Vista Winery is that they keep their red wines in the barrels as long as they can. They change the wines to different barrels every 6 months from French oak barrels to American oak barrels to Hungarian oak barrels.

One of their most popular reds is "Road Kill Red." The tasting notes on the wine menu for this wine are quite intriguing and humorous.

Half way or so in between the tastings they serve Hungarian sausage on a cracker. It is so delicious, flavorful and savory. Taking a bite of the sausage and then a sip of any of the wines you're tasting really bring some terrific flavors to your palette.

Bella Vista Winery has whites (dry and sweet), deep reds, rose wines, a port (nice and light - not too thick), dessert wines - one of which our favorite is what they call a "Jacuzzi."

It is their Late Harvest Petit Syrah served with chocolate and then topped with their champagne. When the champagne is poured in after the taste with the chocolate, it creates a lot of bubbles, hence the name "Jacuzzi." This taste is a lot fun and really good! We usually do this all together as our last taste.

Bella Vista Winery is one of our most favorite Temecula wineries. Give it try if you enjoy old world charm, great humor from the pourers and a truly exceptional wine experience.

I saw a Groupon for this winery and decided to try them. Why not? Tasting for 2 was $14. You need to be careful because the business signage is not that great and you might drive right past them. They have a very small parking lot. My impression of their tasting room is dark and dingy. It looked like it had not changed in decades. I got a feel for the late 1960's. The wines are not worth buying. Their white cab did not look like white cab or taste like it. The white merlot was equally as bad. Their champagne was barely drinkable. You should skip the entire experience.

Originally Cilurzo Winery which was the first vintner in Temecula. Cilurzo had outstanding wines...the best Petite Sirah in the area. It was family owned and run and Vince, Audrey and the family couldn't have been more welcoming and knowledgeable. Bella Vista is a far cry from Cilurzo. The owners are not very hospitable and their wines are absolutely terrible. With so many other growers in the valley, spend your time and money elsewhere.
