You park across the street and walked up to the hill to wait for the train to come. It was a short hike about 5 min. The hike was pretty easy. You just have to find a spot where you can have the best view...More

Went to see this because it was Number one on Trip advisor of things to do in Tehachapi. We are so glad we went. Yes you are watching a train, but it really is so much more. When you factor in the engineering feat of...More

No trip to Tehachapi is complete without a stop at the Loop! We went there on a Saturday and immediately saw a train. 36 trains a day go thru there so no long wait anyway. Just watching the train loop around itself was amazing, and...More

We were driving up the road to find the overlook and saw the trains coming. We were so lucky to actually arrive as 2 trains in opposite directions were rounding the loop. It's worth a look but may want to check on train schedules.

Not well known, but of great interest to anyone who like trains. And who doesn’t like trains? The birds are a bonus. Saw a pair of American kestrels and several acorn woodpeckers this morning.

Not a lot to see or do, but it was a very pretty drive. We did not get to go to the museum, but there is a nice marker with a small space to pull off the road right across from the loop.

Pretty neat to visit if you're in the area or into trains. Nice drive along the mountainside from town down to this spot. If you have kiddos, make sure they go to the bathroom before you head out. We waited over an hour and no...More

Managed to observe the Loop as a train was going through. I’m not a train geek but this is impressive. If you are going through on Hwy 58 from Bakersville to Tehachapi- get off at Keene at take the road to the observation point.

On route from Bakersfield to Barstow, we exited CA58 at the Keene exit and followed the signs for the loop. Easy to find and adequate parking on one side of the road. Within minutes of waiting, a train came round the loop. It was absolutely...More

Haven't been to the Tehachapi Loop many times, I have never missed seeing the train Loop itself. This is such a heavily traveled train track that you never have to wait very long to see a train come through. Rather than... More
