Visits by the general public are by arrangement only by calling (408)735-2020. Visitors must be US citizens. Bring documentation, like a passport to prove it.
The Iron Man museum is a quick visit, but an extremely rare glimpse of how Sunnyvale showed up on the map. Joshua Hendy Iron Works began as a mining and lumber equipment manufacturer in San Francisco during the California Gold Rush. After the 1906 Earthquake, the US government brought Joshua Hendy Iron Works to Sunnyvale and began manufacturing engines for boats, especially US Navy ships like the Liberty ships, of which many were launched in the SF Bay. Joshua Hendy Iron Works was acquired by George Westinghouse, the guy who made Tesla's contributions to the world work so this manufacturer also produced many different household electrical appliances. In the 1990's Marine Systems was acquired by Northrop Grumman which is why this site now has such security restrictions. If you question the value of government work, ask yourself where the roads, sidewalks and municipal services came from around your home.

Made arrangements for a lunch and tour for our rotary club. They provided a speaker and tour for our group which was very interesting and informative. Must be a us citizen to get in and see do to classified areas of the plant.
