Great place to take a summer fall hike. Park at Squaw and make the journey across the parking lot. When you are done hiking come back to the village for wine and entertainment. Just a wonderful medium to easy hike for your family.

My wife and I traveled as a couple to Squaw Valley. Found the trailhead and started up the well marked trail. About a half mile in, you have to search for the markers or the footprints of those ahead of you. Ran into several hikers,...More

We left base camp Squaw Valley at 12 noon. Early October. Temp mid 50's. My wife and I. We had read: "easy, 2 1/2 hours in and out, 4 miles, for the entire family" Not in my book. Tram was out of season. The hike...More

The trail was a little hard to find as it went through creeks and boulder fields, but people have done a good job trying to keep the trail marked with spray paint lines. I was told it would be a good family hike; I'm not...More

This is a great hike, the area is beautiful, there are some lovely waterfalls on the route and the scenery is fantastic. We hiked this trail in July 2017 and the temperature was 85-90F, as someone who lives in Scotland I am used to hiking...More

This trail is not for the casual hiker in flip-flops. It is not particularly well marked but generally easy to follow as long as you remember to "keep the water on your right". Lots of rocks and wonderful scenery. After you get to the lake,...More

Shirley Lake canyon is very beautiful with waterfalls. You can hike up to high camp & ride the tram down for free. ( when in season) The trail has been difficult to see but I heard that they recently redid it. This time, I went...More

Most beautiful hike I've ever done, but beware this is a strenuous hike unlike "easy to moderate" as many guides say! It is about a 2800'+ elevation change that takes you over every terrain possible. It starts off beautifully with a creek and waterfalls alongside...More

He'll do fine. We were there in the snow so we didn't hike on a trail but I'm sure the trails are smooth. I think hiking might be easier than with snow shoes.
