Can't say enough positives about this experience. Yes it is expensive, but in my opinion it was well worth it. The mix of instruction and drive time is great, but the real star is that F3 racecar. These machines when pushed can allow you to experience about 3G's of lateral force and supercars don't come close to this. You do need to feel comfortable with clutchless shifting, which one guy in our group did not know how to do and always clutch shifted out of the pits in the face of the instructors trying to get him to do clutchless shifting. There is no feeling like pulling 3-4G's - it is incredibly addictive. If you are sitting on the fence, trust me just do it as it was one of the most fun days I've ever had!

I booked the KTM X-Bow Stage I & Stage II program and the three-day F3 School of Racing course. After attending the Stage I & Stage II KTM X-Bow program, I ended up not running the F3 and instead took two days of private coaching in the KTM X-Bow, a great decision. The KTM X-Bow is an unbelievably sharp track tool and thanks to my instructors, Nico and Matt, I could push the limits of the car and myself over the 4 days of coaching.

Sonoma Raceway is a world-class circuit. An amazing array of high-speed corners, hard braking zones, sweeping bends, and elevation gains/losses give this track a lot of character and depth. There’s always going to be something to learn around Sonoma Raceway.

*I highly recommend the private coaching (DDC - Driver Development Course) for getting the most out of your days at the track.

A huge thanks to Jonathan, Nico, Matt, Shawn, and Felicity for making the experience unforgettable. I hope to see you all again soon.

Joined my son for a day at the track. We have taken a couple other driving courses together but this was my first time on the main track at Sonoma. Our group was just my son, our instructor Ken and me. We had a great day and learned a ton. It was clear my son was capable of driving much faster than me. For our last session Ken arranged to have another instructor go on track with me while Ken took junior out for some faster laps. That was perfect.

My prior performance driving class was at Laguna Seca in a Cup Miata. The KTM X-bow is so much more a race car. Just a blast.

Our thanks again to Ken and the staff at Simraceway.

Black and blue up and down both sides of my body...but, I only wanted MORE! This is absolutely the most fun you can have without wings designed for lift.
I'd never driven a downforce / formula car before and getting used to the deep, hard initial braking spike with release was the toughest part for me. The instructors are top-notch, everyone at Simraceway is focused and professional and the facilities are as immaculate as a Penske engine room.

Imagine going from not having driven a Formula Ford in 30 years to being behind the wheel of FORMULA 3 car and within 3 days under the great instruction of Tom and Ken, you are now well on your way to being proficient in an extremely fast and exciting racecar!

I can't say enough how this was worth every penny to serious racecar drivers. This is not really for complete novices, but they have other courses for that level.

Thank you to Tom and Ken and kudos to fellow students Bill, Tony and Angela for being great fellow students and comrades.

Wanted to drive Sonoma for the first time and also try the KTM X-BOW. Very welcoming, friendly, and professional Felicity signed me in at the nice clubhouse and helped me with a tasty coffee. Had Tim Moser as my safety/fun/skills guide for the day. Even though I have hundreds of days of track experience, the day starts for all with a bit of classroom and then a skills assessment on the skidpad, which is smart thing to do for everyone. We did a download session in the classroom, and then off for the first 30 minute lead/follow session on track. Three more track sessions, each followed by a classroom download as the day progressed. Tim helped me to learn the track, make the most of the KTM X-BOW with tons of constructive feedback, and did it all at the pace I was comfortable with. Bottom line- I ended the day exhausted physically, stimulated mentally, and feeling very comfortable with a very challenging track. The car is exceptionally responsive to driving techniques, and if you want it, you'll get a LOT of practice in car control skills :-) For me, the value received exceeded the price paid, and like all things in life, that is what matters! Thanks to all involved for a GREAT experience! Can't wait to go back.

Just want to say a big thank you to SimRaceway.com and their Team, especially Tor and Felicity, for making my Son Jack’s Teen Drivers Course on 8.19.18 a great day for him. It was an even better day for His Mom and I to watch your school increase his car control skills before our eyes. (Turns our Tor and I’s childhood homes were just around the corner from each other in the Santa Cruz Mtns, lol)

I am a strong proponent that teaching our newest and youngest drivers the art of car control has the POWER to save lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. The more advanced training we can instill into the Muscle Memory of our Kids on what to do in a panic stop / lane change situation or to control a skid in an unexpected slide, the more chances we give them of doing the right thing in an emergency behind the wheel.

This goes for our Bay Area adults too; We too would do well to improve our collective car control skills for the benefit of all; ourselves, our own friends and family passengers and everyone else who is on the road.

I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains and my Dad was a Sgt. on the Santa Clara PD. Back in the day he would go to the elementary, Jr and High Schools and talk about Driver and Bike Rider safety... I can’t remember the last time I have heard of such a community outreach program still going on today.

He did not want me driving Hwy 17 until I was more "Experienced". And I had been driving since I was 11 on the family farm in a 66' Datsun pickup.

When he caught me driving to school before I was ready, he grounded me for a month! And rightly so!!

I was in my first accident 1 month after getting my license and totaled my Mom’s 510 station wagon. I went on to total 6 more vehicles…Thank God for seat belts and no serious injuries to me or others.

I then got some advanced driver training from SimRaceway when it was known as the Jim Russel School of Driving when they we located at Laguna Seca. Ever since that class, some 30 years ago now, I have not been in one accident and have avoided countless attempts by other drivers to hit me in one way or another, as well as handling numerous panic stops over the years in a multitude of different vehicle types.

We can only hope and pray that our kids could hope to have a similar experience over their lifetimes.

What more important life skill could we possible bestow on our children but to give them the gift of better can control skills? These skills will literally stay with them their entire lives and can be the defining factor that just may save their life or the life of one of their family or friends one day.

Jack and I will be back to both take your next level car control training class very soon!

From one very Happy Parent;

Jack’s Dad

I attended the Car Control Clinic up in Sim Raceway last year and it was great! I recommend it to anyone that's looking to figure how to control their rear-wheel drive car in a safe environment. I wanted to learn how to drive my S2000 to the limit while not having to worry about running into anything. Luckily, the two instructors were able to give me a lot of great advice and tips, educating me on how the car handles and feels at the limit. I came away impressed more confident by the end of the day.

I arrived really not knowing what to expect.
The experience I had well and truly exceeded my expectations. It's one thing to 'drive' a super car, but to be able to tackle the track with the theory we had was great. I had Greg as an instructor and his application of theory vs practice made the whole thing work. As a driver with no background in racing type driving, Greg made the whole thing come together. Highly recommended.
