Enjoy the views while driving along the main highway. Explore the many vineyards along the way. Very interesting, many areas with views similar to those of Tuscany and Bordeaux, without that old town feeling of Europe.

Everyone thinks Napa, and while the valley holds many treasures, a 35 minute drive here is worth a day. There are too many quality wines that are nearer here and worthy of note. The hills nearer Sonoma offer rich bold experiences depending on your tastes...More

While planning a recent vacation, I struggled with booking a hotel in Sonoma or Napa. Thankfully, I made the correct choice by staying in Sonoma Valley. A bucolic, gorgeous setting--rolling hills, cows and sheep, palm trees and yes, many beautiful vineyards. Cannot wait to return!

Fun ride. Lots of wineries, very scenic. Could easily spend a few days exploring. Good option for a short ride outside of Sonoma Plaza area.

Pop up from San Fransisco for the day, or stay in the valley for several days. Either way, it's worth it. This might be Napa's little sister, but should not be dismissed.Sonoma has it's own style, flavor, and well earned reputation for quality wines. Not...More

The Sonoma Valley was a wonderful place to take my daughters for a girls weekend away. Nice, quiet, great food and wine available everywhere. We'll be back!

It was fun to hear the Sonoma / Napa Valley competition. I have to admit that Sonoma talks about it a little More than anyone in Napa did. These are 2 distinctive areas that only share the fact they both make wine. Sonoma is more...More

I stay in Sonoma every summer to see the family. It is a great place to go, whether it is for wine tasting, visiting the cute shops, good restaurants, awesome plaza, and good people.

What an amazing opportunity to be so close to the city and so quickly in the country. Sonoma provides lovely back roads, smaller crowds and several tasting rooms for over the top experiences.

Visited Sonoma while staying in Napa for a few days. Enjoyed the area and the town is quite interesting to walk around an pretty. Not an awful lot more to do in the area other than taste wine.

We stayed in an Airbnb just outside the city. Beautiful view of the valley and vineyard next door. Local host with good suggestions for the area. Quiet relaxing option

I definitely recommend the Sonoma area rather that Napa which is just too busy. I can't help with hotels, but Trip Advisor has many suggestions.

Hey there. I've lived in the valley for 40 years and hope I can be of some help here. First of all, there are some really nice wineries with lovely grounds within walking or bicycling distance from the center of Sonoma town... More
