Hans Christian Andersen Park is an awesome park filled with large live oak trees. To enter this park, one needs to drive through a castle arch. It has a skating section. There is a small wooden playground behind the skating section. There are several benches for public seating. Certainly worth visiting when in Solvang.

We were super confused by the pictures posted as from this park on trip advisor! They are mostly pictures of downtown Solvang, not The park. The park itself has a castle like entrance but then it just a regular city park! It is near the grade school and is a nice little park but not at all as pictured.

Hans Christian Park is north of the center of town. It is much larger than Solvang Park where the statue of HCA resides, so I think that is why some of the reviews for Hans Christian Andersen Park are actually reviewing Solvang Park next to a town parking lot and public restrooms that gets very crowded with tourists due to the location. If you want to visit a large oak shaded park with lovely scenery, playground and picnic facilities head to Hans Chridtian Andersen Park north of Solvang Park. Photographers come here to take engagement or wedding photos. Lots of room to run or relax away from the busy tourist park and shops. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy! Both parks have something different to offer, so visit both and decide on your favorite.

We stumbled upon this wonderful park by accident while in town for a wedding. It has beautiful, lush hiking trails, a tennis court surrounded by trees and plants, a skate park and play area. We should have spent more time there and we'll visit again.

Want a trip to Denmark? Take a trip 2 hours north of LA into the Santa Ynez valley and go to Solvang. This is a special kind of 'tourist trap' and shopping Mecca. And hams Christian Andersen Park is a special kind of park for children. A skate park for older kids, slides, lawns swings, a music making area for little ones and all shut out from the rest of town by a 'Castle Gate'. When you are done with the park, maybe you should think about something to eat. My recommendations include Paula's Pancakes, Birkholm Bakery, Olsen's Bakery, Solvang Bakery, Chomp Burgers, and even the Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, the Mandarin Chinese or the Bodega de Espana! There are almost 1,000 shops in Solvang to work off that meal, including toy shops, China shops' clothing shops, bookstores, clock shops Scandinavian specialties and antiques. Don't forget, Mission Santa Ines is on the eastern edge of town (and Mission La Purissima is only a few miles to the west). If you're not there yet, what about a place to,stay? We don't demand the palatial, but have stayed very comfortably and reasonably at the Hotel Corque (town Center), the Kronberg Inn (west end) and the Holiday Inn (just across from the Kronberg). Enjoy!

Many people whose reviews are here on this site think that this is the downtown park with the Hans Christian Anderson bust. It is not. It is a short drive down Atterdag street on the left just outside of town. Nice park with a short 1.3 mile hike and a skate park. If your kids are into skateboarding, this is a great place for them! Also a great place for a picnic lunch and a hike!

Solvang is a beautiful quite town. We visited it twice in winter. We usually drive from Santa Barbara and come back the same day. I don't think you will have much to do if you stay more. We mainly enjoyed walking around the streets, eating fresh bakery with coffee and buying souvenirs. Fresh air and nice European atmosphere

The park is open around 7am to 8pm and free to enter. It has a cute entrance which can be used by both cars and people. There is a nice 1.3 mile loop that makes for a great trail/park run. Although the signs say it's used for both people & horses, the trail was very clean and we never needed to watch where we were stepping. There are also tennis courts, a playground and a skate park.

This park is an adorable and extensive castle village made of wood. This would be a perfect place for a group of kids to play hide and seek, as the entire structure is a huge maze of a structure with several areas all connected and splayed out.

Great place for both kids and dogs. There is a skateboard park, a tennis court...lots of fields for dogs to run...several picnic areas...many of which are under cover. What a great place!
