Volunteers are keeping it in lovely condition. Worth getting off 101 to visit. The county road between Gonzales and Soledad is very pretty with farms and wineries.

While only the foundation of the original mission remains, a chapel and building housing a very nice museum have been rebuilt. The history of that mission and the mission trail are inside. The chapel felt like it was a hundred years old. The mission is...More

Unlike so many of the 21 missions along the southern and central sections of California, the Soledad Mission remains tied to its agrarian roots surrounded by the verdant fields of the Salinas Valley away from any city. The mission is simple...a courtyard-centered quadrangle with out-buildings...More

Set among the farm fields along the Salinas River this small mission founded in 1791 has been restored. The original mission ruins are in back as an archaeological dig. The chapel sanctuary is the smallest of all 21 mission but rich in faith. It is...More

This is in fact a church, a museum, a gathering place for the community, and an active archaeological site! Take your time and wander around and read everything... Also very cool miniatures of all of the California missions!

This is a very pretty mission and very peaceful. The mission is surrounded by different vegetable fields and the Pinnacle Mountain Range. A lovely mission worth visting.

While the original mission church was destroyed by floods and neglect, there is a beautiful small church that was built in the 1950's in typical mission style. I thought the museum was well done -it continues through several rooms based on an historical timeline. There...More

If you enjoy the Missions, please visit. This is a very poor, and under funded mission. It is also a reconstruction from 1955. It is enjoyable, but San Miguel and San Antonio, South of here are better for their historical value.

On a lonely road among fields of crops, it's a short ride off the main highway. Features the lovely mission, a small museum of historical artifacts, and a commemorative fountain.
