We visited this place recently. The reviewers were promising, but the place is really small and the staff is not much of a help. They give you a map and do not tell much about the garden. So, it is much smaller than San Francisco...More

This is an authentic Japanese garden and pond with large and colorful koi. Should not be missed. Also the Japanese structure of a Samauri is amazing. No nails all wood.

Hakone Gardens is peaceful and beautiful. I would strongly advise all able-bodied folks to enjoy this treasure. However, if your mobility is limited, you won't be able to access over half of the site. Stairs and steep paths will limit you. The koi pond and...More

Very beautiful grounds. It is also very peaceful. There is a pond with fish and turtles, and a nice bridge (which kids love). There are Japanese-style buildings. There are trails to walk along to get from building to building, which is either a plus if...More

We were invited to the celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of friends and thought it was a terrific setting for such an event. We were indoors, in a typical Japanese building of wood and stucco. The food was outstanding, as was the service. Out...More

Very pleasant garden and well maintained. It seems to be quite small and we did not spend anything like the 2-3 hours a previous reviewer suggested. More like 1 to 2. It certainly has the feel of an intimate Japanese garden. The areas away from...More

I came to the gardens for a workshop. What a superb location for one. Consider it if you have a workshop for 20-30 people. Absolutely gorgeous and comfortable in spring.

Beautiful gardens and short hiking trails. Not the best for those with knee problems or handicapped. Was beautiful in the fall, imagine the beauty in the spring after the rain!

Thank you for visiting. Yes, the gardens were very beautiful this spring. The sakura, wisteria, and azaleas make for a very colorful garden.

The garden is not big, but it's nice. There is a charge for parking at the garden, but if you park down the hill it's free; you just have to walk up hil.
