Anyone interested in plants will enjoy this site commemorating the work of famed horticulturist Luther Burbank, who introduced over 800 new plant varieties, including the Idaho Potato. The site includes an acre of gardens with many of the naturalist's creations, a beautiful greenhouse he built in 1889, and his Greek Revival home.

Botanic research holy grail. Though surprising initially on how could he accomplish so much in such a small garden, it is fascinating to walk and see where Luther Burbank lived. The house is in downtown Santa Rosa. I visualized the home to be in the...More

I was disappointed that I arrived too late to enter the home. The gardens are OK, but I thought they'd be more expansive. It is interested to see the plants that were cultivated. The gardens can be walked in about 20 minutes.

I am giving the Burbank Home & Gardens three stars, but only because of the time of year. In the spring/summer, I can imagine that with more flowers in bloom, it would be beautiful. Still, it was interesting to learn about the pink stucco mansion,...More

This would be wonderful in the spring and early summer. The end of September has many of the plants going to sleep for the winter. So plan you visit accordingly.

We have lived here for over 10 years and had no idea that this little treasure garden existed - with such history to boot! Did not know that Santa Rosa hosted such a mega horticulturist like Burbank! From the tours they give you learn that...More

I would agree with Kevin G - certainly worth a visit even taking account of perhaps a few steps.
