Escape to Africa by way of Sonoma County…Come discover the Sonoma Serengeti. The classic African safari is a trip of a lifetime for intrepid travelers from around the globe - and, it is closer than you think! The entire Safari West experience is a kid-friendly adventure for families to enjoy together. Our tours are designed to educate guests of all ages and we have found that families are truly inspired as they learn from and share with one another. At Safari West we strive to actively promote conservation and environmental education concepts to our guests, whether they are with us for an hour or a week. The whole experience at Safari West is one of building connections and making discoveries; getting back to basics and enjoying the profound simple pleasures of family and nature that are all too often overlooked. If anything is “not to be missed,” it is that sense of serenity one finds while gazing at graceful giraffe nuzzling her newborn or the surge of raw adventure while witnessing an energetic herd of wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Overnight lodging is also available - the true 'glamping' experience!

The guides were knowledgeable! This trip was the best ever! The experience of seeing these animals up close was awesome! I would go back and stay the night to listen to the wild!

My husband and I went and did the safari. It was fun, you get close to the animals and learn a lot. Four stars only because at times it felt more like a glorified zoo than a aafari. Although the animals have more open enclosures...More

I am older and recently widowed. This safari ride was a marvelous treat and diversion from my otherwise broken heart. Our guide, Azalea, was well informed and charming. She turned out to be able to drive the old Jeep Trucks very, very well over winding,dirt...More

Good morning, I'd like to apologize for the lack of small cats on your visit. We do have three feline species on property: cheetahs, servals, and caracals. Being predators, they aren't out in the large-mixed species enclosures but live on the lower grounds in their...More

5.0 star rating 7/22/2017 My daughter, youngest grandchild (age 5) and I enjoyed almost all aspects of Safari West. We had an excellent two- to three-hour tour (in a comfortable but rugged safari truck) of the antelopes, primates, birds, rhinos, ostriches, and Cape buffaloes scattered...More

This was our second visit. It's still an amazing place, but we didn't see nearly the number or variety of animals as on our first visit. Our guide did too much talking and was running late. Think there was more he could have shown us.More

We had such a good time - hot and dry just as in the desert, but thoroughly comfortable. Seeing the animals up close and getting such great exposition from our guide made the trip very memorable. All kinds of different people in our group, but...More

I think you would have to take Lyft or Uber to get there - it's not really near anything where a regular bus route would run. You can also spend the night there.
