Escape to Africa by way of Sonoma County…Come discover the Sonoma Serengeti. The classic African safari is a trip of a lifetime for intrepid travelers from around the globe - and, it is closer than you think! The entire Safari West experience is a kid-friendly adventure for families to enjoy together. Our tours are designed to educate guests of all ages and we have found that families are truly inspired as they learn from and share with one another. At Safari West we strive to actively promote conservation and environmental education concepts to our guests, whether they are with us for an hour or a week. The whole experience at Safari West is one of building connections and making discoveries; getting back to basics and enjoying the profound simple pleasures of family and nature that are all too often overlooked. If anything is “not to be missed,” it is that sense of serenity one finds while gazing at graceful giraffe nuzzling her newborn or the surge of raw adventure while witnessing an energetic herd of wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Overnight lodging is also available - the true 'glamping' experience!

I'd go back again in a heartbeat. We stayed overnight in one of the tent cabins and while expensive, the experience was absolutely worth it. Being able to hear the animals overnight was cool, but likely could only do it for a night at a...More

It was a really lovely experience, but will be closed for a while due to the fires nearby. Please check before you visit. When it does reopen go it is well worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 2 of our party were elderly and required a little special care which they were readily given. Our docent was very enthusiastic, fun and informed. Lunch was very good. Great afternoon! Hope all goes well and quickly in regrouping after the...More

Animals come close to the vehicles. Guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Preserve is large with variety. Great for every occasion. Food is also really good. Fresh and organic.

Over all I thought it was a neat experience. I loved the Giraffes and the rhinos. Would have been really neat to have some elephants there as well. Borrowing or rescuing a couple from the Oakdale rescue would really add to this experience. Our guide...More

The kids, 6 and 10, loved it, especially riding on top of the jeep. The animals are incredible, their environments are fantastic, and the tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. Expensive, but totally worth it. That money is going to create a great facility...More

Four is the stated age but if they are mature, well-behaved and can sit patiently in the jeep then I would imagine they would be okay. My just-turned four-year old was better behaved than some of the other kids on our tour.
