This is my favorite pier to visit. We came here this year to mark the end of our Route 66 trip. The highway ends on the pier. Souvenirs are expensive, but I suppose that's to be expected.

If you're in Santa Monica you have to go to the pier just for the experience. You don't have to ride the rides to enjoy a stroll on the crowded pier. It's a great place to people watch. Stay away if you don't like crowds,...More

A sight for sore eyes. Coming here always keep me relaxed (despite the long walks!) and calm (despite the diverse crowd!). Not as if I don't live in a small island with so much water and sand, but it's the crazy fun activities that you...More

Very historical. Pier is in good shape and surrounded by a very well maintained beach. Plenty of for pay parking nearby. Not a huge variety of food, and it is on the higher price side.

This pier was a disappointing visit for me. I thought it would be a very "California" / "LA" experience but was let down and wouldn't recommend wasting more than an hour here. It felt dirty. Dining options seemed terrible. I searched for anywhere decent to...More

What a lovely pier. We spent a happy few hours wondering around and did a few of the fairground rides then had dinner at Bubba Gumps. Really pleasant time

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I think it would be a very cool place to go on a first date: great location, fun ambiance and very relaxed.
