The coastal hike to Fern Grotto Beach is gentle with spectacular vistas and fascinating wildlife. I didn't expect the walk out to be so easy! The grotto was beautiful, but a little bit spooky too.

The old Wilder Dairy family ranch made its way into the hands of local community as a sea fronting historic site with miles of trails inland of hwy 1 and two Victorian era homes of the glory days.

A few years back, we rented a house just two miles south of this state park and never knew it existed, but what a find! A 2-3 Mike trail winds its way along the cliff side. Magnificent, almost completely undeveloped views...pelicans, gulls, egrets, terns, sea...More

Wilder Ranch has something for everyone. A fairly gentle hike with wildflowers, birds, butterflies and other wildlife. And then at the end, amazing views of the bluffs with the ocean waves crashing below. You also have the ranch itself which has farm animals with a...More

It is $10 to park. There is an out house at the parking lot. There are 2 sides of trails here. You can hike/walk the ranch side trails, there are many. We have done that before and found it nothing special. Better foe bikes on...More

Black Friday hike! Trails are not clearly marked/identified to get to locations. Parts of trail is closed and must have a GPS to make sure you stay on the path. Farming paths can easily be mistaken for trail paths. No bathrooms available once you leave...More

Have gone here several times. Hiking, picnics, biking. The scenery is spectacular! I also attended a child's birthday party here. We came across a bobcat right on the road to the farm house!

Wonderful hiking area. The farm demonstrates life in the 1800's. There is a blacksmith, draft horses , sometime candle making . Good spot for family outing,. The beach is a bit of a hike but worth it. If you don't want to climb back up...More

We took the walk to the fern grotto and as I remember there really didn't appear to be anyplace to walk along the beach let alone ride horses. It is a very rocky coastline, at the bottom of a cliff mostly.
