I was really looking forward to this train ride however if I was asked if I'd do it again I'd probably wouldn't. I think my expectations were set pretty high given so many great reviews but in the end I wouldn't say this was amazing...More

This was a wonderful adventure to take a 2 year old on that is crazy about trains! We took the ride through the redwoods. It was just long enough to keep him entertained. At the top everyone gets off and can walk among the trees.

This venue has a rustic old country western town feel to it. The facilities look thematic to the western railroads name. I recently attended a wedding that was supposed to be here BUT DUE TO TERRIBLE AND LACKING customer service had to be moved 3...More

The ride through the woods was beautiful and seemed short for the ticket price. We found space to sit on the open cars and were initially concerned about not having hats and sunscreens, but the ride goes on tracks surrounded by lush green trees. We...More

Local family took us on this ride when we visited. The open air train cars make viewing the forests really special. We learned a lot about the history of the area and the local forest plants. We enjoyed getting off the train to see the...More

This is a stand alone great attraction for train enthusiasts. We usually take tourists to the Henry Cowell State Park for the redwood tree loop walk, and then walk next door to look at the train.

I checked with my sources and found that you could ride both in the same day if you start in Felton first, ride the Bear Mt loop and then ride to Santa Cruz and back to Felton. These trains each have a different vibe.

we went in the spring and did not buy tickets in advance. we did get there an hour before the train left but there is plenty to see while waiting. there was still room left and we , 4 of us, had the car to ourselves.
