A trip to UCSC Arboretum offers one an excellent view of the Monterey Bay, a great selection of Proteas, and if you are lucky many hummingbirds. Small fee for parking.

there are all kinds of interesting plants and very nice peole to answer any questions about what they have growing there. my friends Mum works there as a volunteer part time. I think it's worthy of a visit.
