As beaches go this is average at best. The surrounding scenery is not particularly spectacular and the beach itself is quite ordinary. There is plenty of available parking at two dollars per hour. and the marina is nearby with some shops and restaurants.

Easily accessible with parking from Santa Barbara main car park, a roomy and sandy white beach - your feet might get a bit dirty but not problematically so. Worth crossing the road to the La Playa stadium too. And not that windy as SoCal beaches go!

I could not figure out why people where looking at the bottom of their feet, some going down to the water to rub their feet there. I found out when I woke up and got ready to leave that bottom of my feet was covered 25 percent with tar. It took me over an hour to clean that tar off.
Do not waste time going to beach in Santa Barbara. It is not clean or nice. Overrated. I feel sorry for those tourists who are attracted by the name. Not me

This beach is on the other side of the marina and is less crowded. There is a restroom and parking. It's a nice place to spend time at.

We stopped here for a couple hours of beach time. Very nice. Plenty of parking in the lot. You pay for parking but it's cheap. Nice cafe nearby for lunch. Clean restroom and outside showers. Beach is wide with nice sand and swimming. We had seals playing in the ocean in front of us and one came up on the beach. Beautiful coastal views. Get there early for a nice spot. Very crowded on weekends.

Grew up at Leadbetter. Happy to see it is still a great beach. Would rate it #1 in SB with Hendry's "The Pit" a close second. Leadbetter has less traffic than The Pit making it more of a locals beach.

It's special because of the shallow area near the cliff, which makes it perfect for learning to surf. We also enjoy it because the Shoreline Cafe is nearby for drinks and food after a day in the sun. Finally, the picnic area between Shoreline Cafe and the cliff is a wonderful place for a barbecue or picnic. The only negative is that there is sometimes kelp seaweed on the sand.

Leadbetter is a popular surfing and BBQ beach. The point makes for good waves, and there are lots of picnic tables and BBQ pits on the lawn area between the parking lot and the sand. People go swimming here, and it's a nice place for walking, though kelp does wash up on the sand. You can walk up the hill to Shoreline Park and look back down over the beach, getting a nice view of Santa Barbara and the coastline curving around for miles to the south.
When we're not having a BBQ, we like going to the Shoreline Cafe, which is right there, and has tables both right on the sand as well as on a raised, covered deck.

Compared to all the other beaches we visited in SB, this one, while nice, was the dirtiest. We didn't spent any time here but we went past it on the path.
