We came to the Palm Theatre to see, “Biggest Little Farm,” a documentary of a young Southern California couple who want to create a “traditional” farm, using no pesticides. The theatre’s walls have painted murals of various actors, characters from movies, etc.

This quaint and old-fashioned movie theatre is just the ticket for the best indie/foreign films/art movies in San Luis Obispo. They usually have three to four movies showing at one time, and all seats are good. It is family owned, smallish but very friendly staff and has several bathrooms (yeah for women!). The place is plastered with great vintage movie posters and the seats are comfortable. The prices are low, and they only take cash, but where can yo see a movie for under $10...at the Palm. It is the iconic movie theatre of San Luis Obispo!

This theater shows great movies and documentaries year-round and is one of the permanent venues for the International Film Festival. They also sell $1 popcorn. Since we live in town we can walk there, but right across the street is a parking lot and the first hour is free.

While staying near San Luis Obispo we wanted to see the movie Darkest Hour. We saw it was at the Palm Theatre so we made the drive to SLO. We had been to the Palm before and enjoyed the 1950's feel that the Theatre has... where else can you still get a $1. bag of popcorn? However since we ate lunch before the show, by the time we got to the theatre, the line was around the corner of the building. We did make it inside, but we had to sit apart from each other as the show was a sell out.... my seat was in the first row and all the way against the wall. I had to turn my neck 90 degrees to see the screen. However, when we bought the ticket the box office person said they were full and if we did not like our seats we would get a ticket for another showing. Since we were in we stayed and watched the show (which was great!). It was still a good experience to see a good film in the Palm and we will go again in the future.

Usually can find more "out of the main stream" type movies here. Three seperate theatres, which are on the smaller side, but the seats are quite comfortable and have cup holders.

We have been coming to SLO for years - and it was just on our most recent trip that we discovered this theatre! We will be back!
It is in the downtown area - parking can be a challenge sometimes.
It's cash only - so be prepared. All the staff are SOOOO pleasant and nice and helpful! One day everyone gets in for a reduced price - I don't remember which day - and they also have a senior rate. Prices are good any time!
They have several (3) theater auditoriums - all are small. We went a couple times while we were there.
We'll be back!

This is the USA's first all-solar-powered movie theatre, and it is a fun little place to go. Now with three screens in an impossibly small venue, it shows films that are not quite the general exploding-car shoot-em-ups that the general public is accustomed to. Discount showings on Monday, so show up early for a seat! Right next door to the downtown Mission area- this should be a must-do on every visitor's list~

It's a neat little theater. It usually only plays documentaries or lesser-known films. It's neat if you're looking for a specialty film not found in bigger theaters.

Back on the Central Coast again and in need of something out of the ordinary. We found it last night with a great movie at the Palm Theater. We get tired of forced fed "blockbuster" movies and the Palm in SLO regularly provides relief with their array of interesting movies. Not all of them grab our attention, so as with so much out there, we are selective to what we think we'll enjoy. Thank you for being there, Palm. Oh yeah, bring cash. That's all they accept.

Very quaint cinema that take cash only and only open up box office 30m before performances. Good place to see arty films, or films on limited release. Great popcorn! Make sure you have the yeasty topping on it!
