We attended mass here as we were on the little own to celebrate a friends anniversary. It is a well preserved mission which still has the extended building/arches. There is an interesting museum with artifacts on display such as priests garments and Indian grinding stones....More

I've always loved coming here, the Mission is such a attractive and peaceful place. The displays in the Museum are fascinating, telling the story of life in early California very well. The Mission itself is in wonderful condition, a pleasure to look upon. It's location...More

Mission San Juan Bautista has a peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful view onto the valley below. We were unable to enter the church because it was locked. The little town is a fun place to spend an afternoon.

not all calif. missions are alike. mission san juan bautista boarders a historial state park. the mission charges for entry. I feel that since it borders a state historical park it should be free or accept donations. but it is a lovely mission to visit.

Good displays of artifacts and explanation of the architecture, use, and significance of the rooms. Breathtaking...More

Uncrowded the last weekend of July. Deep ambience of old California, the days of yore. Refresh soul here.

My wife and I were visiting the area from the east coast and a friend suggested we go here. We are not Christian but we totally enjoyed the mission buildings and scenery. It is a much larger church than I was expecting, still very much...More

This beautiful mission is the only one on the entire El Camino Real that has continued holding masses ever since its establishment. For a small donation visitors can stroll literally into another era. Stop and kneel in the silence of the chapel. The frescoes have...More

I'll be honest. I primarily came here to see the setting for Hitchock's Vertigo. I hadn't realized that the mission steeple was fabricated for the movie - a recreation of the original that had burned earlier in the century. Notwithstanding that small disappointment, the mission...More
