If you've never been to Alum Rock Park -- DO IT! Even if you're a Santa Cruz Mountain snob -- these hills and trails (while a bit drier and different vegetation) will not disappoint you. Newly made free parking in the first few lots too!...More

The front end of the park has the remains of the old public bath house, the hot springs and waters that supplied it are further in the park, and the hillsides get very steep very fast. so one can select the difficulty of ones hike.

I grew up about 2 miles from the entrance to this park, so I might be biased. But after I moved downtown and started bringing my three boys back here for nature hikes, they really loved it more than a lot of other parks in...More

For most of the year, the park is very dry. You still see all sorts of animals and there are plenty of trails to go on.

I agree with the other answers about walking along the road but more areas for stroller are paved at the furthest parking lot. So depending on how far you want to hike and the time of year also makes a difference if you want... More
