We hiked this park from 3 different entrance, but our favorite is the one off of Hicks Road, just where the Mount Umunum Road goes to the right. The parking is easy, the trail is clean and wide and goes through beautiful oak and bay...More

I happened to love it for it's history and old structures... I mean it is in a state of disrepair currently but I see some new things being built so I believe it is getting more focus now. Nice walk trail. Saw mountain bikers, so...More

Views are fantastic and the trails give you a good workout. You have choices in short (~1 mile) to extremely long trails (to 20+ miles). Be sure to bring water, no matter how long of a trail you chose.

When I lived in SJ I used to love hiking in this park. There are several loops and some can be strenuous.

This is a good place to take dogs hiking- just be sure to bring water especially in the summer it can get pretty hot.

The views of Almaden from this park are stunning. The retired mines are quite interesting and include boards with information about what they were used for. The trails go right up next to them too, which allows you to get up close and admire the...More

Yes but you need a permit, apparently. From the county web site.... Call (408) 355-2201 to obtain an Animal Pulled Cart, Metal Detecting, RC Boating, Specimen Collection, or Photography Permit.

I figure that you can bring dogs in to the park. Since it is a public park you should beable to. However I would keep them on leash like what was suggested by someone who previously answered this question.
