A challenging course in San Clemente

Used to be one of Orange County's most challenging courses due to tall grasses, poor drainage, standing water. But course has been cleaned up and is in reasonably good condition... read more

I want to like this place because they are nice people, and, I am more or less local. However, I am afraid that Shorecliffs is past its prime and has seen better days. OK if you want to play a round alone, but it is not the place to take out of towners. I give it two stars because three... More

Went to play golf with my brother and son this past Wednesday. Had a 12:30 tee off time, start of a great time. The starter was real friendly and helpful. We needed to tee off earlier and he got us out @ 11:30. (Son had to get to work). At the turn we stopped at the bar for a brew... More

Beautiful and challenging golf course. The club house is a bit dated and smells musty. It was a good deal

This was my first round at this course. After reading the other reviews i wasn't sure I wanted to play it. I also heard from a local that it isn't that great, but OK for someone learning to play. After playing the course, I can say that I enjoyed it. I have an index of 10 and have reasonable control... More

If you play here in the winter your a fool ! But in the summer its 20 degrees cooler here than anywhere inland and that makes up for a lot . I wont lie to you this course is rough , the greens are pretty good and the layout is difficult . I repeat this course is not in good... More

Shorecliffs is a very difficult, narrow course with the connections between hole grouping out of a grade B horror movie. That being said, the greens are in decent shape, the trees and hills make a fine backdrop and the price is outstanding and after playing there most courses are easy. It is an unforgiving course. So you play here to... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge! Played white tees 6/28/12- shot 100 (5 out of bounds penalties), took about 4:20 min to play. My second time playing the course. The first time (last summer) I lost nine balls. This course is unforgiving for slicers/hookers(?) and the overly aggressive. Though this is a good thing in my mind- pay about $20-$25 & take... More

the price was right, but the houses falling off the cliffs and all the ground squirrels were very unsightly. the fairways were beat up badly and the clubhouse hasn't seen a contractor since Nixon played there. the thing I liked least was driving the carts thru narrow drainage tunnels.

I have played all over the world and the condition of Shorecliffs in the upscale community of San Clemente was an embarassment.... It is located close to the ocean but I don't recall any type of real views...it is mostly in a depression of the earth that included travelling along a storm sewer runoff ditch...a Big Run-off Ditch...kind of cool...
