The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its...

The Monterey Peninsula's love affair with world-class racing traces its beginnings to the inaugural running of the Pebble Beach Road Races in 1950. Those sports car events quickly outgrew the public roads of the Del Monte Forest and a beautiful new road facility was born on November 9, 1957.Since then, Monterey has been visited by some of the most prestigious racers in history; Roger Penske, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Kenny Roberts, Bobby Rahal, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi to name a few. The late 60's and 1970's may be remembered as the "Can-Am Years," but it was also the debut of Trans Am, IMSA and AMA motorcycles. CART Indy Car racing and Grand Prix Motorcycling put their stamp on the track in the 80's and 90's. More recently, the huge evolution MotoGP has created a phenomenal global following for the track.Today, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts five world-class race weekends each season, with elite road racing series from around the world visiting the Monterey Peninsula every year.

We where they for the spring classic, great day wandering round the pit lanes looking at the cars and then courtesy shuttle up to the corkscrew. Great bar up there where u can watch all the action. The food and drink prices are very responsible and it's a local brewery to make the day even better.

So much history and it was just a pure pleasure to see this historic and still prominent raceway first hand. Beautiful location and the track really is quite larger than it looks on TVs and video games. Gives you a true perspective of the place and how truly fast the vehicles must be traveling to make up such distances in... More

I've tracked at Buttonwillow and willow springs...Laguna Seca is so so so much more. Iconic and historical for a reason. More speed, as well as technical. Incredible scenery, although I really didn't notice background till the afternoon! Not any facilities open on this slow day with only alan berg club car/ formula cars tracking. Alan berg racing school does a... More

Good family fun events can be found here. Motor GP to AMA Supercross to open wheel sports car racing. Favorite event is Sea Otter Classic in the spring. All ages and people from around the world attend and compete in various formats of racing or if you want casual riding, often with a pro. Inexpensive for all attending. Camping arrangements... More

When driving down to LA I drove over to Mazda raceway the drive to the track was great through really nice country side. On the day we went there was motor bikes on track and that made the morning spent even better, what a fantastic track and location will be back for some on track action in the future as... More

I was at this track for the AMG Driving Academy. I will say watching it on TV, playing this track on a video game does not prepare you for actually taking a vehicle at high speed on this track. Not only is the track a joy to drive, its intense yet provides such great scenery making it somewhat relaxing and... More

We have stayed here on 3 separate occasions and have always enjoyed it. Good size spaces for o.k. rates; $37 per night as of this writing. They offer only water and electric, but they do have a free dump station. My only complaint is the push button showers. Last time I was here they had two good showers. But now... More

Laguna Seca has an excellent campground with hookup sites and separate bathroom/shower facilities. The campsites have great views over the valley and over the track itself and the paths leading through the campground make it a fun experience for kids. It's a short drive to downtown Monterey (7 miles) and there's RV parking at the entrance to Fisherman's Wharf.
