We are Steinbeck fans. The displays are set up to follow each of his most famous stories. We spent several hours revisiting these wonderful works. The visit has inspired me to reread some of the books and to read ones I haven't yet. We loved...More

This is a very well presented museum of prolific author, John Steinbeck. Film clips, readings from books, plays, personal life are all here. We could have spent the whole day here investigating. He wrote more than I have read. Now I am going to the...More

Great place to visit if you're traveling along highway 101. Easy stop in Salinas. Great history lesson.

This center has a Steinbeck Museum in it and that is worth seeing. Especially if you are a John Steinbeck fan. I loved it. However the building itself is not appealing from the outside or in, and aside from the museum I would not go...More

Just what our post-election spirits needed; the Steinbeck National Center is an excellent reminder of the plurality of America. Two short films nicely introduce both Steinbeck and the history of agriculture in Salinas. The exhibits are visually attractive and we enjoyed the snippets of films...More

We stopped here on our way home from Monterey and found the museum to be fun and educational but also feeling unmaintained. We started the visit by watching their two 12 1/2-minute films on Steinbeck's life and the Salinas Valley. Both were interesting and packed...More

A museum telling stories of Steinbeck's novels, and an introduction to the town of Salinas. Definitely overpriced, though pretty educational of that period of time when Steinbeck lived.

My husband and I were driving from San Jose to Los Angeles, but as we were passing by Salinas, we saw a sign for a Steinbeck museum. We'd both read Steinbeck in school, and I love writer museums quite a lot. We thought this would...More

Thought we would spend an hour or so and was very pleasantly surprised that there was so much to see and take in. We started our tour with the 10 and 13 minute films in the small theater that gave a good background to Steinbeck...More

I don't believe so. You could call and find out. It is self guided and there are many movie clips so I don't think it would be possible. It's not large enough for a docent tour. Read all of your Steinbeck books before you go!
