If you have even a modest interest in American writers, a must see. You follow the exhibits from his early novels to later life, very entertaining. Lots of insight on Salinas valley, the ag-business in the valley and Monterey. While there, have a walk down...More

If I'd thought about what this museum would be before visiting, it would've been pretty much what it is. That's not a knock--there is a lot to like, whether you're a Steinbeck fan or just want to know more about him. The short movie on...More

I always loved John Steinbeck books and this center brought those books to life. Each area that you walk through depicts another book that makes you feel that you are there, in the moment. Lots of fun and definitely worth a visit for fans

Being born and raised in California, I grew up reading most of Steinbeck's books. Now that hubby and I are seniors and traveling the USA, I wanted a more comprehensive peek into what made him tick. The museum was a wonderful experience and I came...More

I am fairly new to Steinbeck and found this exhibition fascinating and very easy to follow. Everything was clearly explained, fun to see and very informative.

We had planned a birthday trip to "Steinbeck country" as he is one of our group's favorite author. By nothing more than dumb luck, we happened to hit the center on the weekend of the annual Steinbeck festival and were able to enjoy an excellent...More

For someone who is an avid fan and has read most of his books this centre was a wonderful experience. All the books came alive and I could see the care and effort that has gone into creating such a wonderful place.Really enjoyed the visit.

Start on the right with two films: one about Steinbeck and one about Salinas valley farming. Makes for a better understanding of this great author On the left and walk through the history behind his novels. Audio and visual artifacts, old photos and mural representations,...More

Absolutely fascinating museum. If you love Steinbeck then you'll love the place but to be fair, even if yous5never read any of his books it would still be intriguing. It's a brilliant insight into life in the depression, what caused it, how and why people...More

This museum does a wonderful job of detailing the life and times of a legendary American author. The plentiful exhibits and artifacts about local and national history drew me in. I had wondered how a museum about an author came with a recommended minimum visit...More

I don't believe so. You could call and find out. It is self guided and there are many movie clips so I don't think it would be possible. It's not large enough for a docent tour. Read all of your Steinbeck books before you go!
