A short walk away from the Capitol building, this church is worth visiting even for a walk around the perimeter.

Even if you are not religious, I recommend a short visit and view of this majestic building. The outside looks like Italian Renaissance, while the inside is more Victorian style. The Cathedral has been renovated recently.

My adult daughter and I spent a night on the Delta King while in Sacramento. We found this beautiful church and slipped inside for a visit. There was a church service in progress so we sat down and enjoyed the service even though we didn't...More

Beautiful Cathedral with a big Nativity display and lots of poinsettias that give the altar a glow. The music was perfect as well as the singer.

I’ve been in cathedrals all over the world and this one stands out as one of the prettiest I’ve seen. It’s hard to believe this place is in Sacramento, complete elegance in such a blue collar town. Completed in 1889, it’s one of the largest...More

While visiting the Capitol building go visit this cathedral it's just a short walk away. The vaulted interior is just as beautiful as the Capitol's and unlike the latter there are no paintings of past governors there. Quite a relief, indeed.

We admired the beauty of this impressive building built 1887-89, of course notable for being a bricks and mortar image of the namesake of Sacramento. After visiting San Antonio, I was prompted to start reading James Michener's book Texas, which depicts the part religion played...More
