Its always fun touring a historic house and this one has a very interesting history. Although much of it has been altered due to it's different uses through the years.

My family and I definitely felt that it was worth seeing this part of history showing early California artwork and the architecture of the home. Hearing the information about Leland Stanford was very interesting.

Beautifully restored mansion, seen only on the hour with a guide. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. The visitor center has many well done exhibits and an adjacent gift shop. We had to wait 50 minutes for the next tour, which meant we missed...More

What’s not to love about this landmark & historical site. The tour is free and the story of the Stanford’s, their community ties and the history woven into their residency is pretty awesome. We had a great tour guide and learned some things we didn’t...More

This is an hour long tour so make sure you allow time. The home inside is spectacular and so much of it is still original. You get a real feel for the local history of that time. Really enjoyed it. Felt like I walked into...More

Based on the photos took by two photographers from 1968 to 1972, they restored the house to look like it was back then. It wasn't allowed to take photos inside so be prepared to absorb all the history by your eyes and mind. Thanks to...More

Our group visited in June and was really impressed with the docent's knowledge of the Stanford Mansion, its history, and its contents. We were amazed at the opulent features. Oh, to be rich and named Stanford!

Free and very informative, this Mansion tour is well worth your time. Our guide, Mario, was wonderful, and showed us the house as well as telling us all about the family and their lives. Highly recommend a stop here.

As you walk through this mansion, you "feel" the history as well as see it. Most rooms have been refurbished to appear as they did when the Lelands lived there. Based on photos and furnishings in the attic, the restoration (which continues!) is beautifully done....More
