Lots of very well done and very insteresting displays about the gold rush years. Take one of the offered Old Sacramento tours offered by the Museum, only an hour long but really entertaining and informative.

The museum well documents the history of the city from its beginnings as a gold town and the lives of those who lived at that time. The story of the indigenous people of the area was very sad as it is everywhere in this country....More

we visited during gold rush days events, sept 2017 and went on the ghost tour, walking at night. Loved seeing the museum before leaving on tour, but wish we could have spent more time there visiting items. Great history and the docents are very informative....More

This museum was larger than I thought and offers a whole lot more than I thought. A lot of the display is about the Gold Discovery and you can actually see samples of gold and gold embedded in quartz (which is all alarmed behind glass)...More

This tour was both fun and disappointing at the same time. Having taken the same sort of tour once in Seattle (which also has an abandoned "underground" underneath the current city), I was disappointed at how little "underground" there is to see in Old Sacramento....More

This place is about how the city of Sacramento is born and expand. There is the history about gold rush and goes on, it's a tiny piece of history! it's worth a visit though!

The museum itself is interesting, but this time we opted for the underground tour which was 1 hour long and explained the early history of Sacramento. A fairly easy walking tour that led underground in numerous locations to experience the raising of Sacramento

Interesting and good overview about the city development. For us it was the first time we dealt with a cities history in the US and we got helpful information to understand it and see how the history influences the present.

We did not tour the museum (which looked as good if you like museums); but the tour we took from here was exceptionally good. For only $15 a walking tour with performer dressed in character, the headphones were excellent so you did not have to...More

We did both Gold Fever and Underground Tours. Both guides were funny, nice and enthusiasts! Great Storytelling of Old Sacramento, history, buildings, life and people who lived here back then.

Hi Louise. Looks like some of the other readers beat me to it. yes, there is a charge but I can't recall what it was. Another reader says $8 so perhaps that's correct but I would suggest looking it up online, i.e. "Google... More
