About Local Roots Food Tours
Local Roots Food Tours offers food and farm adventures throughout Sacramento and its beautiful valley region. We offer 3 different walking food and cultural tours in Sacramento. Going beyond the big city - our other walking food tour can be found in picturesque Murphys,CA. Murphys Food & Wine Tour explores the Queen of the Sierra - a wonderful mining town with 8 delicious stops including food and wine. Ranked #1 Tour in Sacramento by Trip Advisor. Each tour offers a large variety of tastings (10+), while visiting 6-10 different specialty food shops, artisans, and neighborhood restaurants. All of our tours are offered year-round, last between 3.5 to 4 hours and range between $42 - $70, depending on the tour. The tours focus on F.L.O.S.S. (fresh, local, organic, seasonal, and sustainable) foods and beverages. Enough food is served on each tour that most guests consider it a meal. Savor, learn, explore and connect to some amazing communities and their culinary dishes.

Even before we met our guide Shelly, the tour owner kept in touch with us to see if we still wanted to take the tour since it was predicted to rain. We went ahead and took the tour and, luckily, the only rain (and hail!)...More

Dawnie checked with us the day before because the forecast predicted rain. She was fine when we said we did not care. The tour started right on time, and we were the only two guests ! Of course that made it a very special experience....More

We have lived in Sacramento for 35 years and never knew much about mid-town. The tour was a Christmas gift and we didn’t think we would get much new information about the area. We were surprised what we learned and enjoyed the restaurants we were...More

This history food tour was informative, interesting and had some unique food tastings. Our guide, Ceara (sp?), was delightful and very informed about the history of downtown Sacramento, a town that pretty much grew as a result of the California gold rush of the 1860s....More

This was a great way to understand a little more about Sacramento's food culture which is driven by a 'look local first' attitude. The food experienced was delicious and my guide (Shelley I think, sorry I can't remember) was great to hang out with as...More

We had a group of about 12 adults. I'm not sure if children are allowed on the tour. I wouldn't recommend it for young children even if children were allowed. Lots of walking, some visits include alcoholic beverages.
