Get there early, I went around 2pm and it was jam packed with protestors, hundreds of people. My in-laws went in the morning and said there was no one around.

Interesting to see the variety of trees in the park, most of which are identified by species and country of origin. Very lovely place for a walk.

The park is lovely, with very old trees of many species. Monuments are interesting, the cactus and rose gardens delightful. A very pleasant place to walk around, or just sit and relax

There isn't too much I can say bad about this place. It's peaceful, roomy, and the trees, bushes, and buildings are beautiful. There are sometimes homeless in the park, as it is a public space (never panhandling--I think it's illegal on the grounds), but I don't mind the homeless. Actually, if I were to get annoyed at anyone in this... More

Loved visiting the park. Very relaxing and complete with an ice cream food truck right out front. I learned each state has a tree planted in the park. It would be neat to find the tree from your home state. Many hotels and restaurants right across the street too!

I spent a couple hours walking around looking at the memorials, trees and flowers and then found a bench in the shade and just relaxed. Very nice.

You can't say you come to visit the capital city without checking out the capitol building. You can go inside for a tour on regular office hours. Around the building are plenty of places to stroll and walk. The garden is full of large old trees, some are fruit trees like oranges. There are many places to walk by. I... More

I walked around this park every morning at 7:30 A.M.while I was attending a conference in Sacramento. The landscaping and maintenance are impeccable. You can listen to the birds sing and watch Capitol people arriving for work in suits and ties. The park's perimeter is about 1.2 miles and you don't have to cross a street or wait for traffic... I went for a walk around the park after church services and discovered parts that I did not know were in the park. The park is part of the Capital Building's grounds. There are various memorials which are dedicated to the Vietnam War, the Firefighters, there is also a large bell, and other sculptures. There are a variety of species... More
