I love walking around the Capitol Park, with all the different trees, plants, information, tributes and history. It's a good place to people watch, too. Going at different times of year makes me appreciate the four seasons, as well.

Capitol Park, which surrounds the California State Capitol, has lovely gardens, status and peaceful walkways. Most of the trees and plants have identification plaques and there are plenty of park benches to take a break or have a picnic.

I've always loved walking around the Capitol. All the way around it measures just a tad over 1 mile. If you're into the sights around it there are plenty with the Rose Garden, The War Memorials and hopefully back soon the Koi pond. There are many benches to take a break on while walking or a lot of grassy areas... More

This place is really neat and worth a visit when your in Sac! I went late at night and it was lit up beautifully and I felt safe which I was worried about as this is a big city. So many people on Pokemom hunts LO! There must be a lot here.

If you've had an opportunity to tour any other state capitols...trust me, California is one of the best and the Capitol Park does not disappoint - wander through to check out what is native to the Golden State. For an extra bonus...plan your visit in the spring to enjoy an extrodinary burst of color, experience our Camellias!

Capital Park is 1.2 miles around the outter sidewalk. They list what each tree is in proper botanical name and its common name. Orange trees line the back walk way to the Capital. There are two cork trees on either side of the driveways into the building ~ very fitting for the wine capital of the States!

This is a great place to run, picnic or just stroll. There is a lot to see like the beautiful rose garden (My BFF renewed here wedding vows there. It was perfect. I believed the wedding pavilion is free or very reasonable to use if you have a reservation). There are several moving monuments including one for Vet Nam. The... More

This is a beautiful park that enhances our state capitol. Apparently there are trees from all over the world. Each tree has a card telling what kind of tree it is. Presently the camelias are in bloom and are exquisite.
