Very nice buildings and a good variety of shops. Interesting couple of museums. Walking distsnce of a few blocks. The river area is a bit neglected.

We browsed a taffy store, a new age hippie-type store, and all kinds of fun places. Felt like a real tourist, and everything was pretty reasonable. Found a Malaysian Restaurant for lunch. Pretty darn good!

Easy access from the train station. A very fun day to travel by train and visit. Best thing we found was the Railroad Museum which was very informative and fun. Best to go in the early morning and avoid the heat if going in the...More

Other than the fabulous railroad museum, this historic attraction is only worth a couple of photos, unless you want a burger or some candy. We walked the distance and nothing was going on, except the sound of other visitors' shoes clomping on the boardwalk. The...More

Lots of people on the weekends but go during the week and disappointment sets in. Really few restaurants to choose from and shops the same. Just missing that really enticing mix of food and shopping. Almost feels like a stepchild of what could be really...More

So many cities have these fake old town districts and most, like this one, fail to convey a sense of much beyond cheap and tasteless retail outlets. Maybe the wooden sidewalks afford a veneer of character that part rescues the feel

It's a typical California "Old Town". Good for tourists, but most shops and restaurants quite overprices. Railroad Museum is the best thing there. Like Joe's Crab Shack but can have long waits for tatles.

Cheesy and seedy. Never again. Gets downright scary after dark and I'm a 6foot two male who isn't intimidated by much.Too many bars and not enough of family friendly places.

Nice place to walk around. Great buildings but most of the stores are touristy. Lots of candy stores and restaurants. Historical interest. Railroad museum is here. Metered parking on the street.

Not far around 200 yards . Towards the back buy the river walk straight to the end . There's usually a balloon clown for the kids 👍🏽

We are going to stay at La Quinta Inn. I'm wondering if we will be able to walk down to the town.

It's about a 20 min. walk via a Riverside boardwalk. 7 min. drive by car. Walking during the day is pretty safe, but I am not comfortable walking it after dark. Old Sac itself is beautiful and safe at night.
