Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

We booked a tasting, and were served out on the back porch overlooking the gardens and vineyards. it was chilly but they had heated lamps and thick blankets, which were perfect. Our host was friendly but unobtrusive, and sipping wines with that terrific view was relaxing and memorable. Afterwards we walked among the gardens. Excellent visit.

We got there around 2:30, and had a lovely garden tasting. There is another tasting where you can sit at a table with some charcuterie where a wine guide explains the details of all of their wines, but we opted for the garden tasting so we could explore the grounds. There were beautiful wildflowers and blossoming trees everywhere, and the... More

A beautiful winery not to be missed. The wines are ok, (similar to most Napa County wines,) however, the staff, the grounds, the winery cat and dog all rank at the top of the 400+ wineries. Don't visit just to taste wine, visit for day. You won't be disappointed.

Highly recommend you make an appointment for a delightful wine-tasting experience on lovely grounds. Staff were professional, classy, friendly. Be sure to ask about their sustainable farm practices which sets Frog's Leap apart from the masses.

This was the best wine tasting tour we took out of about 10 places. Super friendly and casual atmosphere matched with great wine and apps! We almost bought them out of stock of the Zin. I'm sad we only have one bottle left.

I understand that wine is a matter of taste and preference so the fact that it tastes like the local grocery store Saturday samples is a negative to me but maybe some else's positive. But I don't feel this vineyard offers anything that am you can't get everywhere else even nicer. They botched our reservation which didn't matter too much... More

Frog's Leap is one of those wineries everyone should visit. It is unhurried and relaxing - just sitting on the back porch enjoying several delicious lines overlooking the pretty backyard and vines just beyond. Brandi was our host and she was awesome. You also get a couple of pieces of cheese, crackers, a few marcona almonds and some dried fruit... More

This is a great winery with beautiful grounds. The $25 tour is well over an hour, extremely informative, and you get to enjoy 4 delicious wines along the way. Up close and personal in the vineyards, organic garden, barrel room/building and ending at the 2nd floor of the historic red barn on the property. the views of the property from... More

I will make time to be at Frog's Leap every time I am in the area! The experience is always superb. We had to change our Tour & Tasting last minute to just a Tasting because my husband broke his leg. They were very understanding and accommodating. We sat on the porch and enjoyed wines brought to us by Dana.... More
