Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

As they say, the finest way to learn about anything is to experience it. With any visit to Frog’s Leap, you are going to come away more knowledgeable and have a better understanding about what it takes to make a quality wine following organic and biodynamic farming practices. Katarina set everything up for us and took special care as we... More

The guided tour is an excellent way for newbies and connoisseurs alike to start a trip to Napa, as it gives you a fresh bit of base knowledge to carry along to your other stops. Our guide Seth was great. He explained the wine making process in detail and supplemented the talking points with all sorts of anecdotes unique to... More

We showed up without a reservation. They told us they could accommodate us with a wine tasting in the garden only. WOW, the garden was beautiful. Doing tastings, that is what we want. Not only is it about the wines, which were very good, it is about atmosphere. The staff was friendly, the grounds were nice. Enjoyed it very much,... More

Beautiful gardens then walk into the house with a great lounge with the fire burning. Sit out on the balcony with your own personal blanket to snuggle into and do the tasting. A plate of cheese, dried cranberries and nuts to complement the view, the wine and your friends.

We've been to Napa Valley three times, and we always start at Frog's Leap. Their tour is a great way to learn the basics of winemaking in general and get a deep dive into organic farming. And whether you go for the full tour or just a tasting, you'll get a chance to sample some of the best wines that... More

Frogs Leap offered my 11 tour guests an exceptional private signature seated tasting experience in the beautiful Vineyard house. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff provided tastes of the premier frogs Leap wines- from marvelous cabs to delicious chardonnays. The beautiful garden grounds, surrounding vineyards and mellow atmosphere are a must see on your tour of the region. Extraordinary tour services... More

We just returned from our two-week California vacation. During those two weeks, we visited a lot of wineries, sampled a lot of wine, and Frog's Leap was my favorite...in fact, we joined The Fellowship of the Frog! The property is beautiful and the staff is wonderful! I am very sensitive to the tannins in red wines and these were by... More

Frogs leap was a beautiful property. When we arrived we were directed to the back bar for our wine tasting. We sampled 4 different wines, all with soft flavors. None stood out as rich or very flavorful.

What a wonderful morning sitting out under the heat lamps on the back porch. We had 6 pours in total. Highlights were the Rose and the Zinfandel. Beautiful scenery and 100% organic.

This winery is just Picture Perfect. From the setting, the house, the lovely wrap around porch and the vineyard is just breathtaking! We came on a Saturday and it was crowded but you would never know it! Each and every staff member treated us like royalty- so kind, generous, and welcoming. They made this experience unforgettable and it was a... More
