Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made.

The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. This grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards.

Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

Frog's Leap was one of our favorite winery visits. We had a porch tasting on a beautiful afternoon and really enjoyed relaxing and walking around the gardens afterward. Our wine guide seemed a little rushed and didn't spend as much time with us as they do at many of the tastings. That could be a good or bad thing, as... More

This clever play on time flies when you're having fun gives insight to this fun loving winery. Pull the cork and "Ribbit" is stamped on it. But don't let their lighthearted approach fool you, they make darn good wine. Organic and dry farmed, Sauvignon blanc and Zinfandel were my favorites. Modest alcohol levels make them food friendly. Beautiful grounds, lovely... More

Our guide was knowledgeable and eager to answer questions as he showed us the vineyard, fermentation shed, and grounds. We got a feel for the history of the business while absorbing the atmosphere of the place. Loved the friendly vineyard dog who lopes around near the barn. Only suggestion would be to provide some bread or breadsticks to accompany the... More

As they say, the finest way to learn about anything is to experience it. With any visit to Frog’s Leap, you are going to come away more knowledgeable and have a better understanding about what it takes to make a quality wine following organic and biodynamic farming practices. The guided tour is an excellent way for newbies and connoisseurs alike to start a trip to Napa, as it gives you a fresh bit of base knowledge to carry along to your other stops. Our guide Seth was great. He explained the wine making process in detail and supplemented the talking points with all sorts of anecdotes unique to... More

We showed up without a reservation. They told us they could accommodate us with a wine tasting in the garden only. WOW, the garden was beautiful. Doing tastings, that is what we want. Not only is it about the wines, which were very good, it is about atmosphere. The staff was friendly, the grounds were nice. Enjoyed it very much,... More

Beautiful gardens then walk into the house with a great lounge with the fire burning. Sit out on the balcony with your own personal blanket to snuggle into and do the tasting. A plate of cheese, dried cranberries and nuts to complement the view, the wine and your friends.

We've been to Napa Valley three times, and we always start at Frog's Leap. Their tour is a great way to learn the basics of winemaking in general and get a deep dive into organic farming. And whether you go for the full tour or just a tasting, you'll get a chance to sample some of the best wines that... More

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff provided tastes of the premier frogs Leap wines- from marvelous cabs to delicious chardonnays.
