Due to the recent (2019) makingf the emergency lane into one for bikes, this busy bridge, especially turning the rush hour as it connects Richmond in the East Bay with Marin and points North, now can be jammed. If a car breaks down or an accident occurs 1 of the 2 lanes going in one direction is closed down. As I drove over during the late morning and mid-afternoon hours of a weekday, I enjoyed sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay without any traffic back-ups. Be aware that cash only lanes for the toll (only heading to Marin) are limited, and residents have reported chunks of concrete fell on this bridge in the fall of 2019.

We've driven across the Richmond - San Rafael Bridge many times. This time it was to go visit family. We drove from the East Bay across the bridge. One of the things you will see on the drive is nice vista views of the Bay, as well as San Quentin, which is a prison.

Castro Street and Tewksbury Avenue in Point Richmond.Nov 6, 2019 to enter the bike path at the Richmond -San Rafael Bridge , it is an area separated from the road, room for bikes to pass one at a time in either direction, we went Nov 20,2019 and were afraid it would be cold and windy but , with a windbreaker it was fine. Gradual uphill half way then down, and same going the other way so when you make it half way back it is down hill from there. Like 5 miles each way or a 10 mile ride, and then you can come back to the Richmond side and go out to San Pablo Harbor , we did the whole thing 18.5 miles

Spanning the SF Bay this bridge connects Richmond and San Rafael. It's an over under type bridge with traffic heading one direction on each level. Nothing exciting to see and no idea why you would want to go to either place.

Five miles from Marin County to the East Bay. Beautiful stretch of road that soars high above the Bay.

This is the bridge we drive over to get to Marin County and I always love the views from up on top. Can be congested at commute times. It's same, there is a bike lane. Great views.

This is how we get to Marin County from the East Bay. It's a long bridge and some of the views, especially of Marin, are quite nice. Can be congested at commute time.
