The town of Shasta will be rebuilding from the Carr Fire as the town was badly damaged from the fire that raced from the west side of Whiskey Town Lake to the city limits of Redding. One can still stop by and see the ruins...More

We came through here after the CARR fire, and there were already clean up efforts taking place. Great historical knowledge here.

Old remnant buildings flank the main road. No clear start or finish of the self guided tour, you can poke around the foundations and facades and read placards on buildings. Worth seeing for a 10 min stop.

This is a must visit place to be sure to put on the travel agenda. It is educational and just feels good to visit and walk on the streets of an old historical town. Elk are sometimes on the streets so be careful.

We have passed this wonderful little piece of history many times, this time we didn't. The cost to walk through the jam packed museum also got us into the Joss House in Weaverville! The town of Old Shasta still has portions of the brick buildings...More
