About
In 2003, owner/winemaker Bob Tillman first walked the 130 acre property that would become Alta Colina Vineyard. After 35 years as an engineer by day, home winemaker by night, Alta Colina is his vision from ground to glass. Since our founding, Alta Colina has become known as both one of Paso Robles' most beautiful Vineyards and one of the Central Coast's most acclaimed Rhône producers. Bob, along with his daughter Maggie and the rest of our team, are committed to translating our incredible property into every bottle we make.

One word to describe this vineyard - Fabulous! We went up to the Central Coast to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday and my dad’s 94th birthday. I had booked reservations at several vineyards throughout the week for us to visit - Alta Colina was by far our favorite! Melissa greeted us when we arrived. It was a beautiful sunny day, so we sat outside. Melissa
was so knowledgeable on the tasting wines and explained each one in detail - all were delicious! It was hard to choose which ones we were going to buy.
The owner, Bob, came over to say hello. My dad is a Veteran and so was his dad. We all agreed that at this vineyard they make you feel apart of their family.
We ended up buying several bottles of wine, the cans of wine (I loved the design on the cans), Olive Oil, and an Alta Colina glass for my daughter as a momento.
We will be back to Alta Colina as the ambiance was so warm and welcoming with beautiful views.

Was recommended to visit here by Caliza winery, and we couldn't have been happier. What a great find! Located up on Adelaida, they have a variety of wines which include Marsanne and Rousanne - two of my favorites - along with some delicious blends. We were fortunate to meet and be served by the owner who had many interesting stories to share, and suggested holding the Rousanne 'til Christmas to let it age a bit on the shelf. He said to come back after and let him know how it was, and we definitely will!

Very pleasant owners. We had a great time. We particularly likes their whites and refreshing rose. The wine tasting room is new. The owner took her time to explain everything

I love going to small wineries where the owners and staff are passionate about their wines and the wines are great.
The Top-to-Bottom Vineyard Tasting is fun.
We joined Bob in the Vineyard truck after chatting with both he and Maggie (owners and a father/daughter team). The views are great. Learning about the Tillman family's philosophy and organic farming approach through a hands-on, educational Vineyard tour was eye-opening. I loved the private hilltop tasting under the shade of a century-old oak tree followed by a tasting in the barrel room.

Great experience, kudos to Melissa who did a great job presenting the winery. Really interesting wines, with the 900 being our top pick!

We had the privilege of meeting with the owner and original winemaker AND the newer winemaker AND having a full personal tour of the facility and property!.... Created a lifetime special memory.
Bob Tillman, Alta Colina owner, is a very laid-back gentleman with a easy-going congenial personality. And only was he relaxed in his presentation of all of his wines, he asked if we had time for a tour. Took us to the top of his very high 1800 ft elevation property to show us their unique layout of their feels and grapes.
If you're looking for a unique camping opportunity, camping rental trailers are provided up top in The middle of the vineyards. Unique 1950s trailers, I think there were five of them, dotted a open hilltop area with a full view of the valley.
The vineyard is managed organically, using compost fertilizer and native grasses versus any chemicals. Bill believes healthy microbes are left in the soil if it's not tilled, introducing oxygen to it. Native grass captures water in the spring but then dies in his mowed in as mulch. These natural approaches create health for the vineyards without human measures.
We learned The property is hand picked with three full-time labor staff and those added during harvest. Obviously physical labor intensive. You have to respect the workers that do this.

Old 900 Syrah,
2013 Sun Worshipper,
Nice shipping deal and that it's $15 1-12 bottles so we sent six home.
Thank you Bill for creating such a memorable experience.

Thanks Bob and Lynn for such a wonderful time. My family and I spent a great time during our visit to Alta Colina. Bob (owner) took sus for a ride through the grounds and taught us about his vineyard. Alta Colina has really nice grounds. You can camp at their site near the pond. This is a boutique vineyard and you can not find its label in retail store (except in few locations in Southern California). Lynn (owner) taught us about their wines during the tasting. We tasted a sparkling wine they had just produced for their 50th wedding anniversary. Everything they produce is done for a special reason. We became members of their wine club. I would recommend that you stop by and enjoy their wine if you are in Paso Robles.
