About
Whalebone is a family owned and operated winery on the Vineyard Drive wine trail in Paso Robles, California. We specialize primarily in red wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyard is 100% dry land farmed west side Cabernet Sauvignon - this is what we are most known for, along with our Cabernet blends. We produce BOB Wine, a Cab blend that has developed a cult following since Bob first created it as a home winemaker in the '90s. You can also find Paso Robles Zinfandel, as well as Paso Robles Rhone blends in our Tasting Barn.Whalebone also offers artisan Paso Robles olive oil and vinegar tastings, and we always have cheeses, salami, and local sheep milk ice cream for hungry tasters.

We stopped in on Super Bowl Sunday and were the only people there. The owner’s son served us and did a great job talking about the wines and the history of the Vinyard. It is a quaint and friendly place. The wine was really good and we bought a bottle. Highly recommend it!

We were given a tip by a server at another vineyard to make it up to Whalebone and we were so glad we did! The scenic road leads you up to the top of a hill for a fantastic view. The family who owns the vineyard are running the show and they are charming, informative and fun. The wines were all tasty....you must try the Bob Wine! Two bulldogs rambled in and out while we were sampling. Very fun, don't miss it.

Just the sort of stop we were looking for - a windy tree lined road passing by vineyards and horses. Friendly service, delicious wine, reasonable wine club, and olive oil to boot!

Sitting atop a slight hill along a country tree-lined road, we spotted the sign , and my friends said we should stop. They had heard the wines were good. Boy, Good is an understatement. I liked every taste I tried . These wines are fantastic! We joined the wine club which allows for two shipments a year with anywhere from 3-12 bottles per shipment. We also tasted olive oil. They had mustards, candles , cheese items for serving cheese, too. The girls pouring tastes, one of whom was the owners daughter, We’re so friendly and fun to talk to. This is a family owned winery. It is small and perfect for intimacy of just enjoying good wine with people and friends. It is relaxing. And I plan to stop here and make it a point to stop here whenever I am in Paso. Wine fee is $10 waved if you purchase wine. Their wines are priced in the $30-35 range. Totally worth it.

1st time to Whalebone. Great tasting room. Good size. Not too big, but fits enough people inside on the day I was there. Has a dog running around the tasting room. Place has a good country family feel to it. Great views if you sit outside with a glass Wine were pretty good. Cabs were solid. Price is about average for wine in Paso, not too pricey. I would recommend a visit. Not a place you need to go too often, but worth the visit.

We did a wine tasting tour through Grapeline Wine Tours and our last stop was Whalebone. Small tasting room with some tables outside with a beautiful view of the Paso Robles Wine Country. Family owned, and we had the son of the family pour our tastings. He was a fun time, and even gave us free samples of a tri-tip chili. They have a new puppy, an adorable bull dog, that roams the tasting area and property. The wines were delicious, and we purchased 3 bottles. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again when we return to Paso Robles.

Worth stopping and supporting a family owned winery with good wine and quaint surroundings. Loved the stories and time our hostess shared with us.

My friends and I stopped by Whalebone on the recommendation of someone from Halter Ranch. It's right around the corner from Halter, and completely worth a stop!

We weren't expecting much, but we ended up staying for over an hour while we tasted wine and olive oil, chatted with the family there, and enjoyed some strawberry basil ice cream. I cannot stress enough how amazing our stop there was. Each of us bought a bottle, and we all walked away wanting to immediately go back.

I will definitely make it a point to stop by Whalebone whenever I find myself in Paso!

(Also, if you're a dog person, they have an ADORABLE lab that came over and slept at our feet while we tasted. Such a sweet dog!)

We enjoyed the small, intimate feel of this winery and friendliness of the employees. We purchased some salami, cheese and crackers here and enjoyed them with our wine out on their patio overlooking the rolling hills and oak trees.
Out of all the wineries we tasted that day we felt that the entire selection poured at Whalebone was excellent and at a good price point.

This winery is a small family owned spot but with respectable offerings. The tasting room is a darling old barn, so the atmosphere is casual and charming. Tasting fee is reasonable and they have a nice outdoor patio area for picnics. Very scenic views and a lovely spot to spend some time. Check this place out if your name is Bob, as they have a "Bob Wine" named after the dad. A nice red blend and you can take a bottle away with your own name on the front. Cute place!
