Too far of a drive from Orange County, but if you're a local, its worth the trip. More to do there during the summer (water play). I like the mix of indoor/outdoor activities.

Kidspace Museum in Pasadena is hands on the best kid’s museum in Southern California. All year round you can find different activities for kids to engage on. My 4 year old absolutely love this place!
