We've brought folks from out of state (and country) here and they've all been impressed by the beautiful Stanford campus... Hoover Tower is no exception.

Isn't Stanford wealthy enough to allow visitors a free elevator ride in the Hoover Tower? I can't stand heights, so I sat on a bench waiting for my wife to take in the view. When she came back and asked me for money, I was...More

It is worth going up, you can see all the campus and some days all the way to San Francisco and San José.

The place is a little hard to get too; parking far away. But, the inconvenience is worth it. There is a good elevator to the top and the top is shaded and out of the rain.

Should you visit Stanford don't miss the view from the top of Hoover Tower. As a child growing up in Palo Alto we would ride our bikes to the tower and throw paper airplanes. The view gives you access to the heart and soul of...More

We went through the Stanford campus on our last drive down from S.F. to visit our family in San Luis Obispo and went by the Hoover Tower (fondly known as Hoover's Erection).. It still is an impressive edifice.

Basically no queue, great view of the campus and the city! It's $4 for adults to go up and get a few photos.

We were there on the weekend, an there was a lot of parking on campus. We parked near the visitors center. but there were many places closer. But I do not know about the permits required.
