I live in BC. So i'm used to hiking through forests up to waterfalls and mountain peaks. This Hike was unlike anything i've ever seen before!! It's not that hard (as long as you're not afraid of ladders or heights) There are a few bigger...More

We were in Palm Springs for the weekend and went out to ladder/painted canyon. Great time! Lovely hike! Super cool! Here are my helpful notes: - If you drive a non-SUV, be prepared to drive slowly on a 5 mile dirt road. We have a...More

Interesting scenic hike upand down a few ladders, through a some crevices and down onto the canyon floor. It was a lot of fun, not very difficult and great exercise. A great 3 hour tour.

This is a fantastic hike. It is remote and you have to travel down a very bumpy road to get there but it is worth it.

We usually do this hike at least once when we are in the Palm Springs area and have done it with kids as young as 6 years old. Make sure you have good walking/hiking shoes and lots of water. I don't know how many people...More

Good for kids, teens, and adults. Our second time through the canyon, we spent about 2 hours up and down, returning back down the ladder route. For a longer hike, take the loop and come back down the valley bottom. It's a bit of a...More

I don't think this is a state park. Since there is no fee to enter Painted Canyon. There isn't anything to drive around. You actually park in a small lot and then hike around. If you are physically able, I would... More

I don't know of any ropes on the main climb. All fixed ladders. The hike from the plateau toward the antenna towers and then back down the dry canyon is a bit of a slog so we usually just reverse our path back down the... More

My best advice is, if you have a smart phone with navigation system, just type in painted canyon as your destination. Took me right to the entrance of the hike. When you enter, you have two options. Left: will take you... More
