It could be a great stopping point but isn't particularly welcoming. Saved because of the architecture, there's little info about it and the walls of the thing aren't historic. The city could do a lot more with this site/building.Visited November 2023Written 13 November 2023

The personnel at the visitor center were personable and took their time to familiarize us with the area and answer questions. We found some great local coffee shops and restaurants that were off the 'tourist trap' roads.

Walked out from town to get some local insight . Massive waste of time.
Unfriendly staff is unhelpful.
We’ve met some very nice folks in Palm Springs, maybe it’s time for some fresh faces at the centre.

Completely uninterested in helping or giving guidance. Thought only purpose was to see palm spring t shirts and post cards. Asked what they’d recommend to do in Palm Springs with dogs and the woman said I don’t know, maybe walk downtown? Yeah. Genius idea….thanks for nothing. Grabbed a few brochures and was on my way. Where were the helpful people others noted ?

We visited 3 times, first to get general info and a local map. Subsequent visits were for specific questions. Folks were very helpful.

Enjoyed our stop at this retro and historic building. I felt like Palm Springs was a step back in time to the 60's or 70's. Helpful information here. Restrooms onsite. Gift shop inside too. Good quick stop.

The location of this building is great, right at the entrance to Palm Springs and at the turnoff for the aerial tramway. The architecture is striking, and both the interior and exterior are well-maintained. The gift shop has some interesting items, and the free brochures/map are helpful. The map of important mid-century modern buildings costs $5.00, but I didn't mind paying because seeing these homes and other structures was the primary purpose of my visit to Palm Springs. I would recommend at least a short visit, even if just to appreciate the architecture by Albert Frey.

What type of clothes for end December for Sr. Citizen?
Paul B
Palm Springs, CA25 contributions
Hi Kktdev,
At the end of December the weather is cool for Palm Springs. I wear shorts most days and during the evenings I switch to long pants. You should probably bring a light coat or a sweater.
Temps in December range from the 40's at night to the 70's during the day and I wouldn't worry about rain too much during the winter.
There are lots of clothing stores here in Palm Springs just in case you need something that you didn't bring.
I hope that you have a great time.

We will be arriving at the Palm Springs airport in Nov. & may need transportation to our hotel in Indio. Aside from taxis is there any bus service? Cost? Thanks, Marleen

Taxi's or use Uber…..much cheaper…

Since I an't leave him in the car, can i bring my purse puppy with me on the tram?

This time of year, there are days where it would be cool enough to leave a puppy in the car. It may be better to pop him into a doggy day care, just make sure he's up to date on applicable vaccinations. No, they don't allow puppies on the tram. You may sometimes wish they didn't allow children on the tram, but all humans are welcome.
