This popular trail is easily accessed and can be pretty crowded, so stay focused. If you're concerned you'll become worn out too soon, go counterclockwise and enjoy the more gradual ascent. Super nice views of the entire valley!

My wife and I have been coming to the Valley for several years and we never leave without climbing the Bump and Grind at least once. Although there are some lovely views of the Valley, it’s not the prettiest hike in the area. It can...More

The trail itself provides great views and is a very good workout. I recommend going clockwise to maximize the climbing. The major drawbacks are the trail can become crowded and mountain bikes are allowed. The bike riders can be aggressive at times. This trail also...More

Amazing views on the trails that connect behind the stores at Painter's Path. The trails are very steep and the terrain is harsh and rocky. Bring water!

This trail was about 5 miles of winding trails up and around a mountain. Some of the trails were steep and narrow. It was quite the workout and one of our favorite trails that we hiked.

We had been recommended this and we're pleased we went. Easy to get to as just at the end of Fred Waring. The route is simple to follow as there are plenty of people on it. We went up the right hand side which I...More

Access this hike behind the Target shopping center. It's a fun hike up a very steep trail. Once you get to the top, the view is amazing!

Arrive early as it gets hot! This was a really fun trail, and a great way to get a good workout. Wear good shoes as the ground is loose in many places. We saw big horn sheep at the top!

Hi Bill, I was there with my 11 year old son in March and did not see any mountains sheep.

I was the one who originally made the clockwise suggestion. The path is well marked and a lot of people on it even tho it was a weekday. I was delighted to hear that I was not the only one who preferred the clockwise hike.

Off Painters Path behind the shopping mall in Palm Desert. It's literally in the city.
