- Mike GLos Gatos, California4 contributionsPacific Grove California, don't miss Lovers Point. Something for everyoneLovers Point on the Pacific Grove Coastline is a rare gem of an experience. From surfing to swimming to kayaking its all there in a pristine environment with plenty of room for a family picnic or lunch/dinner at the Beach House right on the water with great views and reasonable prices. Plenty of parking and miles of walking paths.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 December 2023
- roy vTraralgon, Australia6,027 contributionsA nice little safe beachWhile staying in Pebble Beach we took the Grandson to the beach at Lovers Point as we had been told it was a nice safe beach. It was a nice spot and the water was very safe , nice clean sand. There were a lot of people there , plenty of young families with children. It was a fun safe spot with little waves good for the grandson on his boogie board.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2024

We went to Lovers Point in Pacific Grove over the 3 day President Day Weekend. Weather was stellar - clear and sunny. This is a wondeful place to walk, enjoy being with one another, and see the beautiful views of the area and the Pacific Ocean.

The views are great, the beach was small and crowded. The park part was uncrowded and very nice with benches in many good spots. Scenery is the hit and it's part of the walking/biking trail that hugs the coastline, so easy to get to. Some parking nearby.

What more can you want? Beautiful scenery on a well maintained path along the water and stores and food along the way. Many benches to sit and watch the waves and maybe spot some whalesor dolphins. . The restaurant at lovers point is great.

Staying in Pacific Grove one night while driving up the CA coast. Sweet little town with a great beach called Lovers Point.
Sandy beach with a park close by where you can watch the little squirrels run about. Great spot to relax.

We were in the Monterey Area for Labor Day Week-end. We like the Monterey Bay views at Lover's Point and thus we returned. There is a nice park nearby. There are rocky areas. But the highlights of course are the views of the Bay.

Lovers Point is a beautiful spot with lots of fun activities for everyone. Our nieces and nephews love the rock formations and tidepooling. We love the recreational trail for biking and walking, the views, and whale sightings.
There are three beaches at this park. The inner beach, most popular with kids because it is protected and shallow. It doesn’t get a lot of water movement. It also is where the sewage overflow in Pacific Grove is directed. This results in high bacteria counts. Because Pacific Grove has a very old sewer system, overflow is a common occurrence. I will not get in the water here and I won’t let my nieces and nephews get in the water here.
The middle beach gets more flushing of water from the bay and the bacteria counts aren’t as high here. The 3rd beach, sometimes referred to as otter cove, is exposed to the bay and constant water movement.
The park is a great place to spend time. There are BBQs, restrooms, lawn area, great views, volleyball court, small children’s wading pool, kayak rentals, tidepooling at low tide, during the summer it can be quite crowded between 11 and 3.
I only gave it an average rating because the city of Pacific Grove and its property owners refuse to upgrade their sewer system. If they would do this, I would rate this as an excellent choice.

Although the views are amazing, I was disturbed by the tons of garbage just everywhere. Lovers Point is not well maintained and it really detracts from the breathtaking beauty of the area. Whoever is in charge of this area (Parks Dept.?) please keep it clean!!!

I was recently in Monterey visiting an old friend and was driving around checking out the area. I had never been to California before so I found it all to be breathtaking. However, when I spotted Lover's Point, I pulled over and got out and sat on a big rock on the beach. This place was so overwhelmingly beautiful that it overtook my emotions and made me cry! Let me state that I have never cried over the beauty of our country and I live in Vermont which is a really beautiful place! The power of the waves, the blue of the sky and water, the white of the sand, the cragginess of the rocks, etc. was just too much for me to take in all at once. It was absolutely beautiful here. I highly recommend it! Go if you can!!

I recently visited Lover's Point with a very dear friend. I had so hoped we could share the experience together. It will probably be a while before I am able to see him again, now I have a wonderful memory of being in such a lovely spot with someone very special to me.

Hi
Will be staying at Monterey plaza and spa - is this area walking distance from hotel?
Cannot wait!

It would be a long walk, but beautiful. Probably close to 1.5 miles, so round trip would be 3 miles back to hotel. We found plenty of parking along Ocean Veiw Blvd. If you don’t want to walk that distance, I recommend driving to a spot just beyond the aqarium and walking the trail to Lovers Point and back. That would be about half the distance and you still get all the beauty of the ocean trail.
The trail beyond Lovers point is also beautiful as is the drive around the rest of Pacific Grove all the way to Asimolar Beach.

Are there spots that are easy to get to water and swim in?
Written 15 July 2018
I don't know what area the other person was talking about. We have walked the trail out to the golf coarse several times and it is fairly easy and flat. The coastal trail has several access points down to the water and some small beaches. Lovers point has a small beach. You have to realize that the trail is along the bluff and that there are rocks, small beaches and tide pools below the bluff with access points along the trail. There are no life guards at these beaches. Best bet is to look on google maps using the satellite view and zoom in to the areas you want to visit.

Hi,
Do you know if there are wildflowers in Lovers point during this week (3/18/2017)?
Thanks
Written 19 March 2017
No wildflowers. It is a beautiful park with lawn & trees.

Can you bring a BBQ to this beach? Or can you bring items there to be BBQ'd?
Written 1 October 2016
I was just there this week end. I really don't know about taking a BBQ onto the beach but the nice park just steps up from the beach has built in BBQ's. The park has great ocean views and is just steps from the beach.

When will you be opening up? What is the cost per person.
Written 8 October 2015
Not sure whether this is regarding Lover's Point but if it is, it's a public area so accessible to the Public, 24/7.
