We lucked out with parking and enjoyed a beautiful hike. The views of the valley were awesome, with many wildflowers blooming. The hike was moderately challenging for us (we are 60-ish). Having plenty of water and a walking stick was helpful. Perfect weather...in the 70's,...More

I made up my own version, which ended up being about a 4 mile loop, versus an 8 mile out and back. I started at Pratt, took a left on Shelf, and then joined w/ Gridley. It was perfect. I left early in the morning,...More

We set off on a fairly warm day, but not super hot. I am sure this hike would be much more taxing in the hot weather that is the norm for this area. Be sure to carry adequate water. The parking lot at the trail...More

Everything is a private road. It feels like a resident only trail. You have to hike streets to reach the trailhead. No parking signs posted everywhere near the trailhead.

Great views over the valley with the right amount of grade for all, get into it early and you will see some wildlife. I will be back

Lovely and shows off CA veggitation. Drove up from Ventura one way and back home this way. Had lunch in Ojai in funky place on main drag that was good but don't remember name

Easy hike with awesome views! Mostly fire road until the serious hike begins after mile 3. The rest of the hike leads to indigenous plant fauna and panoramic views.

This is a fun, moderate hike to take kids or dogs on with you. The trail is well maintained and beautiful. I have hiked this many, many times.

Bring multiple water bottles, sunscreen and ace bandages! Very few sections of this trail are without ankle busting rocks and outcrops.

I would definitely recommend a hiking boot or good trail shoe. There's a lot of loose rock, dirt and uneven surfaces. I wore running shoes and slipped a few times.
