While doing a power walk around the Square area, I took a quick look at this classic historic site, important because the whole area is about Jack London.

The cabin is located at Jack London Square, a popular destination of locals and out of town guests visiting Oakland. It is an interesting piece of history of Oakland's native Jack London. The place is conveniently located and accessible by a free shuttle bus service that runs through downtown Oakland.

Very curious to find this little cabin in the middle of the busy Jack London Square area, but there it is. Come and read the historic plaques and learn a bit about the local son.

We returned to visit the cabin of Jack London, a social activist and writer. The cabin and dog statue is location in Jack London Square in Oakland, California.

London's cabin was near Dawson as he participated in the Gold Rush. Half of the cabin's original remains stayed in Dawson area, with the other half being relocated to his haunts on the Oakland waterfront. His literary works of "Call of the Wild" and "Buck" justify the dog statute near the Oakland cabin. About 100' from the Oakland cabin is the bar he supposedly frequented where you can partake of a draft like Jack did. This is Oakland, so a visit in daylight is recommended. The cabin is eight blocks from a BART stop, the walk between being a reasonably busy commercial area with lots of retail establishments.

The old cabin of Jack London was moved to this square when this park (sqaure) was developed. It is situated at the mid point of the park for everyone to enjoy.

We visit Jack London square every year and are amazed at how tiny a cabin this is. A statute of White Fang is in front of the area

Jack London's cabin was moved to its' present location some time ago, close to a bar which has been there about 1,000 years, tobacco smoke stains on ceiling! Nice day trip, Jack London was a local guy who got into writing, read several of his books, worthwhile to check out..

Imagine an authentic 19th century log cabin right in the center of this sprawling, modern, and hip square. Just the sort of historical artifact that I love. Pause a moment, read the plaque, and look inside.
