I love single screen cinemas! There are so few of them. I'm glad the Lido was restored & reopened. The remodel/restoration was beautifully done. The Art Deco details reminds me of The Casino in Catalina Island. It's so charming I wish I lived closer, I'd enjoy movies here more often.

Started going to this theater at age six in 1952 for the Saturday matinees for children. Admission was something like 10₵ and for that we got a full-length movie, a short and 4-6 cartoons. Occasionally a Hollywood, western movie would show up to entertain us for a bit. Craig was the ticket taker, usher and enforcer of good behavior and... More

Love this theatre! One of the few old, glamorous theaters left. On a recent trip to Newport Beach we had dinner and then stopped in at the Lido to see 'Sully'. Love the old Hollywood feel of this theater!

We went to see the theater itself not a movie-- it was beautiful and art deco style. I felt like I was in miami beach, but it was very cool to see in person. If you are going to the area I'd check it out.

I live around the street and I look for any excuse to visit the theater. The best time of year is when they host screenings for the Newport Beach Film Festival (usually in April), when they show a variety of films in quick succession. Otherwise, whoever does their movies selection tends to choose lousy ones (subjectively speaking) and they tend... More

Saw Andrew Dice Clay. Took us 40 minutes to get our wrist bands to get in. Total mayhem. People cutting in line, obnoxious security, 1 guy doing wristbands for the entire event. People were furious. Lines for drinks took forever, theatre was hot and has no AC. Lights were out in the mens bathroom. This place is horribly managed and... More

Lido Theatre is located in Newport Beach. They have live concerts and show movies. I went to see the band Long Run in February with two friends. ID must be shown as they serve alcohol. Parking is street and a lot at the end of the street. Great venue...great concert, intimate, no bad seat in the house, dancing up front.... More

Old time movie theatre, that was revamped a bit, so inside is ok. They seem to only show "artsie" movies no one wants to see. Sometimes they have showings of the newport film festival here, so that was very nice.

Back in the Days my Friend, I thought they would never end, "Those Were the Days". A group of fellow travelers on a Magical Mystery Tour, took a ride one night, 1967, levitating through the Lido Theatre door, playing was the Yellow Submarine, all in attendance were invited by a collective empathic consciousness, everything was said without a whispered word.... We attended the Queen Nation Concert in January at the Lido Theatre and had a fabulous experience. We love the Queen tribute band, but seeing them in this small, intimate theatre, was just icing on the cake! This art-deco venue, is fantastic. It will be even better once they get a food and beverage license so they can serve something... More
