Free fish hatchery right next to the Museum. You can get fish food to feed what seems like millions of fish of different ages/ sizes. The hatchery building was not in use during this time but the outdoor pools of fish were just mesmerizing.

If you are curious to see zillions of baby trout and find out how they are raised – the hatchery is set among old trees, on the way to Lake Siskiyou. Fun stop for kids, too.

Neat to see how they raise the fish, learned many things I did not previously know. It was very hot and there is little shade.

We visited July 6th. The fish food is free and feeding the trout outside I the pens is very fun. Don't miss the indoor building where the small fry are swimming around in smaller troughs. There were tons of them and they were headed out...More

We had some time to kill on a rainy day so stopped by and were glad we did. Went inside to see the smallest fish and fed the larger ones outside - the fish food is free.

This is a fun spot to take kids and other visitors for a quick visit. We all enjoy seeing the rainbow trout swimming around and occasionally jumping out or along along the surface of the water. We were a little disappointed the food dispensers were...More

Fun place to see a bunch of fish. Kids can feed them fish pellets for like $.50. As a fisherman, good to see what will be put in the local rivers and lakes in the near future.

This fascinating fish hatchery is located next to I-5 in Mount Shasta and shares a parking lot with the museum. They allow free feeding of the fish using fish food that they supply. Fascinating to see all the Rainbow trout in different development and growth...More

Came here for a quick stop on our way to Heart Lake. Liked the Coleman National Hatchery in Anderson better, where they produce Chinook salmon and Steelheads, compared to trout here. However, here you can feed them yourself, which might be exciting for the little...More

Check the open times from the website. Generally, no need to have an appointment to visit. Just show up during open times. Well worth the visit if you are in the Shasta area.
