Explore Monterey Bay year-round with a marine biologist aboard Santuary, a beautiful boat that is only booked to 80% of her capacity for a more personalized passenger experience. We run longer trips with fewer passengers. We really care about the environment and run 100% local biodiesel. Knowledgeable, warm owner/operators engage and enchant. Responsible captains who don't crowd the animals but ease into the area, which often results in fantastic sightings. We have a great device for avoiding seasickness. Located in Moss Landing at the heart of the Monterey Bay & beginning of the submarine canyon for awesome sightings. We are the boat the locals prefer and the National Marine Sanctuary recommends.

Amazing experience. Having Chase, a professional photographer on board to help was a great help and as a photography novice, I learned quite a bit and my photos were fantastic. Both Chase and Capt Mike are so knowledgeable about the marine life. Each trip I've...More

This is a small boat with limited space so it means you will likely meet and chat with fellow watchers on the boat and have time and access to talk to the very knowledgeable crew. Having taken the larger, Monterey-based ferry type trips, I highly...More

Enthusiastic crew, quite knowledgeable (although bit more detail insight rather than the standard David Attenborough/ Living Planet, would have enhanced the experience) Nice mid size boat, sea sickness aids, ginger biscuits Would recommend (been on 2 whale watching trips elsewhere, this was the best)

We took two trips out with these guys. We had first gone out with another company operating out of Monterey Bay Marina, but choose to come back out with Sanctuary twice (even though it was more of a drive for us). They were very respectful...More

Excellent!! This was our second trip with Sanctuary, and we plan to go again. Different things happen on each trip which makes for great adventure out in the bay. The boat is a good size--not too big--and the guides are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and just...More

The tour guide was articulate, welcoming and friendly with plenty of cool tips and knowledge to share. They were able to position us by some active, breaching whales for an exciting, memorable experience.

Great whale watching- this is a smaller boat so there are not tons of people fighting for a space on the rail when there is a sighting. There is a marine biologist on the boat with you and spends a TON of time talking about...More

Chase and Mike were excellent guides. We hit a perfect weather day with calm waters. We saw 6-7 humpback whales, hundreds of seals, and dolphins eating, playing, and frolicking in the waters. Our guides were very knowledgable and able to get our boat to where...More

My husband and I both loved our experience with Sanctuary cruises. We saw several whales and large number of dolphins. The captain shut the boat off near a bunch of dolphins, I'm guessing at least 50, that were in a feeding frenzy. It was amazing....More

Had a fantastic trip with Sanctuary Cruises. The whale watching was amazing - one humpback hung out with us for about 15 mins showing us her best moves! The team on the boat was great. I really appreciated that they pointed out and let everyone...More

I concur with previous response. Additionally there is seating for about 5 people at the bow of the boat which is where we sat for the duration of cruise.

My advice is to call them rather than go through the website. Plus save $5 on each ticket (service charges for doing it online!)
