I know what you're thinking: too cheesy for me. Not really, they have some really good exhibits and the price is right. The normal entrance fee is pretty reasonable and you can always find local coupons to get in for less money or even free in some cases. Just check around, see what you find.
Kids of all ages will like this place, tons to see and some of the exhibits might be too realistic for smaller kids so just beware of that and hold their hands while navigating through the museum. It is in an area with tons of shops and other things to see so make it part of your day and see what you think. It is nice to support smaller businesses like this and it really IS worth a view!
Have fun!!

I will admit it was better than I thought it was going to be but at the end of the day I would still have rather done something else.

We went through this to kill some time and out of curiousity. It is VERY cheesy, but the narrations are interesting and educational. It's quite dated, so I think that's what made it fun in a quirky kind of way. And it was free at the time we went through, so that was nice. I'd say take about an hour and go through it!

We were looking for something new to do and saw the wax museum. Thinking it's got to be good quality being on Cannery Row and having to pay $40 for the whole family. Sadly we were disappointed. You are supposed to push buttons to hear the story at each station. But with a couple right ahead of us, all the talking voices were mixed in and it was hard to understand. By the end of this "Monterey Story" it tells of men getting boozed up, being hung, and visiting the "friendly ladies" of the night. See pictures attached. Do Not take your little kids. It really should not be advertised for a family to go and see.

If you like kitsch, ("so bad it's great"), you are gonna LOVE this "wax" museum. The figures look like store mannequins from a Macy's Men's Store circa 1975. The scenes are so un-PC that you have to just laugh. Warning: once you start laughing you will not be able to breathe for the hyulks jus' keep on comin'. Price: All You Can Stand for $8.95.

Shame on you! This place is unbelievable. It is so horrible. It is not maintained at all. There are extension cords lying around, a cheap room fan on it's side. The sections are so close together that you can't hear your stuff if another group is close by. There is some interesting historical information, but this is so poorly done. Stay away!

We have never felt so ripped off in our lives! Money and time!
My husband sculpts realistic characters out of clay so was excited to see that Monterrey offered a wax museum! We asked several questions regarding the quality of the wax characters before entering and were assured that the quality was unmatched!
The "museum" is located below ground level which is probably why this place REEKS OF A MOLDY STENCH! We were holding scarves over our nose and mouth since we couldn't stand the smell. This place can possibly be bad for your health!
The mechanical wax characters that are placed in story telling setting do not look realistic at all.
When we left we were hoping to find $20 on the ground that day so we could recoup our time and money spent in this tourist trap!

I am not sure if it was the intended response but we found it hilarious. Literally crying with laughter. We all had a great time!

I can honestly say that this was one of the worse exhibts that I have ever been to in my ENTIRE LIFE! The "wax" people looked more like mannequins from the 1970's and the whole show was disorganized and chaotic. I felt like I went there and paid $10 to be CONFUSED! Scenes were overlapping and this god awful skeleton talked over almost every scene. We tried to ask for our money back not even 5 minutes into our trip but the ticket lady refused as she was not alowed to give refunds. After our visit we got the number for the owner and put a call in for him. He was out of his office at the time and we tried to have the secretary have him give us a call but she refused. We then explained our experience to her and was told that "they just remodeled the exhibt and the owner had made it that way to appeal to kids and adults alike." My friend further asked if he meant for it to not make sense and to be confusing. She didn't have too much more to say about the issue and told us to call again on Tuesday when the owner was in. I'm telling you DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!
